What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

If I get one, I'd really like the removable whinch option so I don't have to have all that weight and lenght when not offroad, which is most of the time.

Also might use it for moving the loaded camper in and out of the garage, which is in an alley with tight manuevering, made tighter by the DCLB.

I'm totally talking myself into this.

 

This was actually last week... 400w anytime and added an outlet in the center console. Here's some pics.

This is after the harness was reassembled.


I used SO cable to go from the inverter to the outlet, Here it is. This allowed me to keep the 110v completely seperate, it even grounded back to the frame at the same location as the stock plug.


Here is the outlet installed in the console. Because it's such a deep dark corner it turned out nearly invisible, even in the daylight.

This is exactly where I was planning on installing my outlet next week. Waiting for a pigtail connector to arrive in the mail. I am installing an outlet with a flap out of a Ford

 

It was kinda tight in there, there's quite a bit of real estate used up right in front of that little pocket. You'll want to double check it if the outlet you're using is any larger than a standard household outlet.

 

Thanks for the heads up. I just checked, should be enough to install the 110v outlet. But I was planning on installing a USB charger right next to it, and this thing wont fit, unfortunately. It's pretty big. May have to find something smaller

I was also eyeballing this style, but decided not to just because I wasn't sure it would fit in that location. It wasn't worth $25 to try it and probably not have it fit. Other locations in the rear piece of the console would definitely fit though.

 

yeah, it is a tight space up front. Mine will be going some where attached to the center console so it can be used by people in the front and back seats. I hate people asking for me to plug shit in for them when I'm driving!!

 

Eh... Not a fan of these household outlets in general. This is the one I am going to install. 1 is plenty for me, plus I would probably be the only person using that outlet.

It uses a 4-wire pigtail connector. You can make it work without a pigtail too, but I ordered one just because its makes for a cleaner install.

 

I like that clean install look will have to look into his part....

 

Probably going to be the first part that fails on your truck

 

Pigtail part number is WPT-962 or 3U2Z-14S411-JBB. They are special order for $41 at the dealer, but you can find them online for around $25. Shit, you may even find one at a junk yard or make your own. Connector name is C301

No problem!

It's 1 1/2" deep. If you make your own connector, you can probably cut off that little flange in the back and save about a 1/4"
