Very seriously considering a Tacoma... and I know I would like it, but I am wondering if anyone has come from a Jeep (Wranger) to a Tacoma, or gone the other way, and what your thoughts might be. I will do light off roading, and need to haul a bicycle around, but that's about it. I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, so winters are kinda easy, but we do get some snow. Similar fun, and price for me... your thoughts?

I know this is a Tacoma forum so I fully expect the opinions to weigh heavily on the "just get the Toyota already" side... but if you've owned both or still do, it would be nice to hear pros and cons. I'm leaning Toyota, but spent the day test driving Jeeps...

My wife just bought a used 2012 Jeep Wrangler 2 dr sport. I tried to talk her out of a Jeep for years, do to she drives approx 20 miles one way to work and half is on hwy. Plus she will never take it off road. I had a lot of other reasons that make sense, but in the end she has always wanted a jeep. Guess what? She freaking loves the thing. It is fun to drive around, but as her only vehicle I find not so convenient like hauling anything.
However I have 09 Tacoma Prerunner and love it.

I'm in a somewhat similar boat as him ^^^ My GF just bought a new 2 door wrangler. As cool as it is to drive around with the doors and top off, I just couldn't imagine not having a truck after owning my Taco. The bed is SO handy; way more than you'd think.

I owned a TJ and man I gotta tell you that was an amazing 4x4.......but also pure GARBAGE! It would take all night to list all the crap that needed fixing on that piece of junk. The only thing the wranglers have going for them over the tacomas are solid front axles which gives them way more front suspension travel and a much better turning radius than the tacoma. The wranglers also have a much better departure angle. Overall a stock jeep is leaps and bounds better off-road than a stock tacoma. But the tacoma is better in every other aspect. Rides better. Better re-sale value. Lasts longer. Way more useful, especially with a long box. I vote tacoma 10 times out of 10 all day every day for their reliability alone.
