Exhaust manifold stud? I broke one off replacing the header in my XJ. After burning through several HSS bits, I gave up and ordered a set of left hand cobalt bits. The cobalt bits with a right angle drill (it was the stud closet to the cab...hard to get to) made quick work of it. The left hand bits helped...once the bit caught, it basically unscrewed the stud.

It's one of the head bolts in the very front and I'm pretty sure the head gasket needs replacing. Beyond my skill level.

i go to sleep after reading the torque news, wake up to go take the camry to the body shop, buy a travel trailer with my taco money; this happens.
it will be ok, Toyota doesnt make many mistakes (Toyota you do have to realize you made the 3.0 without MLS gaskets and poor designed water jackets on 5&6) so give it a few weeks. Im not stoked but I cant say it is bad until i get to drive the thing. The colorado was not the same machine, as on paper, when you drive it. mushy is the word i would use. I am still looking at a september 16 Taco but i need to drive the thing, listen to people who HAVE one, etc.

I wont buy shizit until it is reviewed by the un-fail-able Consumer Report. If they say it rides and drives like crap, is noisy, "but was made of the nicest materials", then we know it is a winner.

You'll have to wait until Toyota releases something factual, you won't find it
here with all of the arguing drama queens.

So true... The 3.6 is a step up in so many ways from the garbage 3.8 they put in between 2007 and 2011. It really one-ups the 4.0L straight six too that they had in the previous years. I've owned a 4.0L AMC in one way or another pretty much since I could drive and so far I can't say I like the motor very much lol. The 3.6 was a great upgrade.

In spite of the lousy engine specs, I think it has potential to look good...from certain angles lol

I really need to see it in person, but form the pics, I'm not to crazy about that color. Although, that bottom one is the best one of seen yet for it. I'm a fan of the MGM.

Well luckily you don't have to get that color. This color is a throwback to old Toyota pickups. Wouldn't be my choice, but the Tacoma actually looks good from those angles. Other angles, not so much.

These numbers are about what I expected. Im not surprised or disappointed. I'm really curious to hear the MPG figures now. Also, I bought my truck for its off-road capabilities, not its already-underwhelming-for-a-truck towing/hauling capabilities. If I wanted a work duty truck, it's what I would have bought. I'm much more curious to know about how its off-road capabilities out of the box have changed (if at all).

The words "truck" and "MPG" do not belong in the same sentence.

That's just not true nowadays. Anyone wants the very best fuel economy they can get, regardless of vehicle type or whether it's 2.0L-4cylinder or V8.

I think we all can accept that we aren't going to get the best mileage. I welcome any improvement at all though.

Wants and needs are two astronomically different things. We all WANT better MPG, sure. Is it something that our trucks in particular NEEDS in order to run? No, actually quite the contrary. These trucks are not known for the good fuel economy and this new 3rd gen truck will be no exception to that statement. There is no substitute for well designed aerodynamics and trucks are not shaped aerodynamically correct to be capable of obtaining good MPG.

Even if the engine itself is more efficient, it's effeciency it may be capable of will be negated by the height and the trucks lack of aerodynamics.

If you want good MPG, you should be looking at Civic's and Camry's.
