Let's see your roof racks

I didn't like any of the Yakima/Thule solutions because of the low amount of weight they can handle. I think they were all around 100-150lbs. Expecially for the AC..

 

So which one did you end up going with?

 

Prinsu, ended up being the same price for the Prinsu vs. a Yakima/Thule setup.

 

Saw OEM going for $230 on ebay, I would imagine either one of the other three are pricier

 

Yeah if you have the holes in the roof already, 2 bars and 75lb rating on OEM aye?

 

I could be wrong but I believe the OEM is rated for 150 pounds.

 

My DIY rack weighs in at 24 pounds, giving me at least another hundred pounds of cargo I can put up there. I never even get that close though. It's usually the bulky light stuff that doesn't fit in the bed that goes up top. OP, the OEM rack is a decent product if you just want a light duty rack. If you need something a little more stout go with the other options these fine fellows have laid out for you.

 

Thanks Luse. With all of this input, I am ever more undecided which way to go. Perhaps I can order my wheels while I figure out which rack I need.

 

You may be correct. 100lbs just came to mind but my memory might be wrong (often is ). My 11 came with one installed but I would never consider putting that much weight on that rack. IMO it is just flimsy plastic with two flimsy metal bars that extend across. Honestly it has very little use other than looks to me. I put my kayak up there once. Never did that again. When I bought my 13 I knew I was going to install a "good" rack and after much research I settled on the FrontRunner. It is EXTREMELY well made and designed. My biggest concern was wind noise (as with any roof rack) but the way they designed this with the fairings underneath the rack there is no wind noise at all. I mean none! Add to that the multitude of optional accessories (albeit costly) it is the last rack you will ever need.

The bed rack will be replaced on Friday when my Relentless Fab bars come in. I'll be selling the entire set up other than the LoadWarrior (undecided if I'm going to keep it or not right now).

What size are your crossbars on the bed? Awesome setup dude.

 

Yakima BedRock system with 48" bars, two Viper bike trays, and a Yakima LoadWarrior. I'll be selling everything but the LoadWarrior.

 

I'm surprised no ones mentioned Bajarack yet.

I like the look of their racks the best. I'm still torn over if I want the basket style or the flat rack.

 

I considered them but in the end there weren't as many options as what was available for the FrontRunner. Good rack though

 

Will the 48'' bars fit on the roof? i cant decide if the 48'' will fit the roof. Yakima recommends the 58''

 

I would think so. You can see how far that stick outside my bed.

 

What size are your bars and and fairing? I'm trying to figure out if the 48" fit the roof.

 

48 def won't fit. Had 48 on my last car and they came in way too short. Pretty sure they're too short for the bed as well.

58" is what they have listed, however, dmv law states as long as the bars aren't longer than your mirrors they're legal. Mine are the 64" (maybe 66"? I can't remember exactly, it's one of those two though). I can measure them tomorrow if you need exact measurement.
