He's on the Rollins side. I'm up at Jenny lake, Yankee Doodle a lot and haven't seen someone go over the top sonce I've been up there. People hike all up on the ridge and mtnp bikers ride the road up and turn around. I would warn not to air on the side of ignorance up there because the sheriff is out and about on an atv all the time. Not to bother anyone but just keeping an eye on the area.

I wish more FS roads were "close the gate behind you" style, instead of locking away public land. That sign would be enough to turn away most uneducated people, just like "private property" gates that travel between public land.

So you're saying you would go through the gate anyway? I know it's been shut down since I think 1990, the wagon trail as well, to vehicles. Like I said I'm up there a lot and haven't seen anyone pass through it. Would be cool if the opened it but I'm sure it would be a summer open trail anyway due to not getting to or passed Yankee Doodle in the winter from the Rollins side.

Or are you saying the close gate behind you would keep "most" people out. I agree with that for sure.

I know more than a few dirt bikers who've gone over Rollins Pass and through the tunnel. Just sayin'.

Such a bullshit closure if you look at how Boulder county went about it.

lol, rolling hills yes, but still an elevation drop and gain going either direction. But i get what you're saying, you aren't having any problems pulling the hills. :)
I think the biggest thing I'm battling is the extra weight of the E rated tire and a slightly larger diameter. The Iroc's were easy enough to turn and burn, these Toyo's ride better but I can feel a big difference in power.
Right now I'm leaning towards 4.88's but haven't fully made up my mind. Most of this is about off road use.
After running Moody Hill I realized low range wasn't low enough anymore, I was having to ride the brakes going down hills and I don't have the slow crawl finesse that I'm used to going over obstacles.

I'm seriously considering keeping the 4.10s, stepping up to 35's, and getting a crawl box. If it happens I'd like to have the crawl box by the time I need a clutch.

Anyone know places to get some bulk firewood for relatively cheap? I'm camping this summer in the national forest and buying small bundles from gas stations and grocery stores gets old. Not looking for much, maybe 1/4 to maybe 1/2 of a 2nd gen bed full at a time.

There's so much standing dead up here that you can cut as much as you need. Bring a chainsaw and two friends

Through the tunnel? With those 8' k-rails stood up on end and the chainlink across either entrance, that would be something to see. But if you mean over it on the hiker's path or the bypass route we've been talking about, I'm sure.
Don't know about down there or how the price works out, but there's a landscape supply company up here between Loveland and Fort Collins that sells pine for 12.5 cents a pound and oak for 17.5 cents a pound. Search Craigslist. I see a guy/place 'in' Loveland selling pine at $165 a cord on the cheap side.

I'm on e rated 285s too... my heavier flywheel seriously helps crawling quite a bit.

You just said^ this is mostly about offroad use. Right there is all u need to say to convince yourself 4.88s. End of story.
