uploadfromtaptalk1437502626724.jpg thanks! Been calling around and trying to find a reputable guy to rebuild the electrical side of the machine. I've even thought about throwing it in the bed of the taco for a little while but idk how much the springs would appreciate that.

New leafs are cheaper than buying and fixing that clapped out dodge. I'd buy a set of air bags and throw the welder in the taco for the time being.

The way Kase can scrounge up parts, acquiring a used set of leafs to pop in when the current ones go inverted is still pretty cost effective.

Just noticed it's also already on a trailer. Is the trailer trashed?

The dodge actually runs fine. I don't think its ever actually pulled a gooseneck loaded down. It mostly just pulled lowboy trailers. No real strain for it. It needs a new bench seat and dash but that's it. Plus I can get it for $2,000. Which is pretty cheap for a diesel.
One shop said its gonna be a month turnaround time for the machine to get fixed and gone through so Il more than likely just save up for the dodge during that time.

Idk. Trying to be realistic with all of this and not get in over my head for once.

That's why I'm saying skip the dodge. Spend a couple hundred on the air bags and be done with it. When that dodge does break, and it will, you'll probably pay more than you paid for it to fix it.

What about picking up a used 1500 ? I'm honestly just concerned about the 4cyl handling the weight.

Plus, let's say I get hired to build fence. How am I gonna get the material to the worksite? I know the taco couldn't handle a trailer loaded with steel.

Idk what the right move is to make to be honest. Need business advice on this one.

Spend as little as possible to get the job done.

You're dealing with flat land here, don't worry about the 4 banger. Just take your time and you'll be fine. You're not trying to race to the site. Put it in low once you get on site and just crawl along. No worries.

Don't buy equipment based on the jobs you "might" get. Cross that bridge when you get to it. You can always have material delivered. It may cost a bit, but you can factor that into the cost of the job.

And why aren't you leaving that welder on the trailer it's on?

Well I was gonna take it off the trailer and put it on the bed in case I needed to haul a trailer with steel to the site. Was trying to think ahead.

    I agree with this ^

Once you find out that your work load has grown, then you upgrade what you have. Dont try to predict workload and prepare for it.

    Ok, here's an idea.

Buy this 16' trailer. Put the welder on the trailer, just forward of the axle to keep the tongue weight to a minimum. Build a rack on the trailer to haul longer lengths of steel if necessary. If you can find a dual axle 14' trailer that will be even better.

Going up some of those freeway ramps on a 4banger with weight is a beach.

    What year dodge?:spy:

Id say throw tge welder in the back of the taco. Drive around and see how it responds to it. Then go from there. Hell, air bags and regear would be cheaper

The stock one flew to pieces at 60,000 miles lol. Got replaced with an LCE race type clutch rated for 350hp.
