    141.9 for 94 at the chevron in Sooke. Only put it in the bike so meh, $18 or so is no big deal. 87 for the Tacoma @ 124.9 from Costco.

    Fuels are expensive because of price fixing, yes. But they charge more to attempting to buy as much domestic oil as possible. The world crude price is not enough to support North American oil and without North American oil the Can/US economies would be even worse.

    Alberta crude is $52/barrel right now and capacity is not maxed out. I'd believe that argument if that wasn't true.

    Even Shale oil is cheaper than $52/barrel. I used to say it was all because of market factors but when you break it down Gasoline is this generations Steel. All the companies collude to get there price. Very little of what we pay has to do with paying anyone other than the pockets of the people running the company and their shareholders.

    The market price does not necessarily reflect the cost to bring it out of the ground. On top of that, North American crude is way more expensive to refine than Middle East oil.
    Not saying it's far, but if you want 70 cent gas move back to 1984

    Not sure why he was upset considering I made a statement and then he decided to "argue" it.

    I work with urea, monoammonium phosphate, and potash every day. The price when it hits port is the same world wide. I can explain the price of all of those commodities at point of sale from that port cost. I understand there is a difference with oil because there are different grades of oil but why is the price of gasoline so far detached now that the price is still low at the manufacturer? I can't reason out any reason and no one has given me a good thorough explanation other than the true free market forces no longer influence the pump price. Much like bread I get this feeling that gasoline is no longer a commodity. It's a consumer good and unfortunately it looks like, to me anyways, the retailers collude on their pricing.
