I used it too. It helped a bit, but even that guide was missing a few key inportant steps that delayed the install. Much more helpful, yes, but still was lacking a bit.

Just heard about the SC being discontinued a few days ago. I wasn't planing on getting one until next year's tax return, but it's now or never. I ran over to my dealer this afternoon to see if I could get a hold one, but didn't have much luck. Their system showed 81 on backorder. He called up Toyota for more details and they informed him that 50 are inbound to the states and their might possibly be another 50 after that shipment. However, dealers with SCs in stock get first dibs at all fitment kits. Apparently, that is where the major issue lies. SC are not hard to come by, but fitment kits are near impossible to find.

I didn't want to take my chances with second batch that may or may not ship. So, I got the list of the dealers who hand them on hand and started making phone calls. Most were already sold or wouldn't sell unless I physically came to the dealership. Luckly, I found a dealer who was willing to ship both parts out to me and it's already in the mail. Can't..#&*ing...wait.

There really isn't very many parts in the fit kit, I wonder if you could have luck buying individual parts out of fit kit.
The majority of the parts are in the s/c box

It is totally a personal decision. For mine, I do like having the power for acceleration into traffic, even with a load of cargo in the bed. The area where I really see the benefit is driving through the mountains, especially up mountain passes when I don't have to constantly shift through gears.

That said, I knew it was not something I could really justify. It simply was a "want" for a vehicle I plan to keep for 15 to 20 years. The truck does not turn into a sports car or drag racer, mpg's don't really change (maybe better in the mountains), and it does cost a little bit more at the gas pump. However I do get to enjoy it on a daily basis. I have seen others spend the same amount of money on other toys that they only use a limited amount of time each year (dirt bikes, quads, snowmobiles, etc.). In the end though I have not had any regrets about getting it. For you though it is all a personal choice.

Just do it, you will not regret it. I too was not impressed on day one. But after about 750 miles of break in and the computer learning it, it really kicks ass. Before I wondered if I could make the pass or fit that gap, not anymore. Much more power anytime I want it. Gas mileage has not changed much, even punching it when necessary(and for fun).

Just go find yourselves a 6.7L cummins 6 speed or an older 12v Cummins :burnrubber::burnrubber: Then you will realize you don't need the SC after all. I am in the same boat, I want more power, but then I start to think. This is just a V6 truck, with limited towing capabilities (axles). I already have trouble pulling our 19' boat around, and when I decide to buy a toyhayuler. It will not matter if I have an SC or not. I'll need a bigger truck. Whenever I step out of my Kenworth T660 or even the T300. I realize the limits to my Tacoma's towing capabilities..I mean I understand its very nice, I would and want to do this really bad, if oyu ahve the cash and do not tow and just want that little extra. Defeinitely go for it! But if not, and oyu tow quite a bit and need more power, then its time for a bigger truck...just my $.02

The one which really messed with me was the intake manifold runner multi stage sensor. I didn't know what the hell it was and I didn't have anywhere to connect it on the blower until someone finally told me it was a non usable item after the blower install. I'm pretty sure that was never in his instructions.

Multiple performance sites have the fit kit as available to add to your "Cart" and mention nothing of unavailability... So is it likely that they have them in stock? Or have people been trying this and just got back an apology e-mail?

I found a few as well and everyone I called said it was unavailable and the site hasn't been updated. Dealers won't let them go either, unless your willing to purchase the charger as well.

I mean its not hard. It's just time consuming. It was exactly like assembling furniture from Ikea. That's my favorite furniture store too. How did you know?!

Haha im just gonna let the dealer do it. Appointment set for saturday to pick out the new truck...might have to wait for a trade, so hopefully go look at the new truck monday and sign papers and have them start installing for me! Shit better be ready n
    By mod day!!!

Dude, i love and hate ikea. Most of my furniture is Ikea, but I'm slowly replacing it all woth quality stuff. Ive learned that you can really only take ikea stuff apart once to move it...any more than that and youre pretty screwed lol
