The same thing can be said for your bank card, VISA, MC, and even your truck keys with just the remote. A key lock is no safer. If someone wants your truck they will find a way to take it. That's why you should always have the proper insurance that covers your truck and mods.

Push button start connects a few wires to turn on your car. A keyed start connects a few wires to start your car. This isn't much of a difference here, not to mention what happens when the key wears out and you break the key module trying to turn it over (has happened to me on an 07 Alero).

Someone has to be the macho tough guy, glad you were willing to step up. Push button start is a nice feature that's nice and convenient. I usually have keep a pocket knife and some change in the same pocket as my keys, and my phone in the other front pocket so it won't get scratched. It'd be nice if I didn't have to pull out my keys, especially when my hands are full.

Ehhhh not really. It was all meant in fun. Hence the little stick poker dude. Maybe you need a man purse for all your gadgets though. ;)

I'm all for a push button start throughout the Tacoma lineup. My skinny jeans don't make it easy to whip out my keys.

In 10 years we're going to get microchipped (like my dog) and not have to carry fobs anymore.

I have keyless entry and push button start on my 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 Turbo. I was apprehensive at first, but now I wish I had it on my Tacoma. I don't think I'll get another car without it, that's how much I like it.

At work we have Ford vans. You'd be surprised how many vans I can open with my van key. Gotta love Ford. LOL.

Does any one know if the Push Button Start is available on all packages or just the high-end packages such as TRD or Limited?

May be a stupid question but I've never had a vehicle with push button start though my parents had a Passat with it and if you were close to the car with the transponder the doors would be unlocked. What happens if you were camping and sleeping in the bed of your Tacoma with push button start, would the doors stay unlocked? Would someone be able to start the truck?

As long as the fob is outside the truck, it'll stay locked. The RFID distance is 12"-18", and the bed is well beyond that. For full push-button start, the brake has to be applied and the fob has to be inside the cab (and it knows). Otherwise only accessory will activate.

With my Juke the fob had to be pretty close to the drivers seat. Who knows with Toyota though.

Push button only sounds cool if I don't have to have keys period.
I don't want my clunky keys sitting in my pocket. I'll have to take them out anyways. Now I need another cup holder to hold my keys. IMO stupid idea. Trying to fix something that isn't broken. What's wrong with keys? What problem did they cause that needed fixing?
That's what I don't get about them. I feel it degrades the car down to a children's toy that starts with a button (BTW those of you with kids may want to watch this feature).

I hope only the Limited comes with push starts but it looks like many of the models may have it :(

Fob stays in pocket, and doesn't stab your balls when you sit down. Issue solved.
