I've done all I can and will do for now, they are a gdll of a lot better than they were but still not perfect.

This has turned into an ordeal that I will definitely remember in the future. Having to to remove and reinstall the headlights tweaking them as you go is a bit of a pain, add in the already sensitive paint Toyota puts on and it multiplies it.

I've got them fairly hotizontal, and almost parallel with each other, but I have a lift in the garage I will be installing hopefully in a week or so. The taco lean correction and ride height is going to have me redoing things anyway so as long as I'm not getting flashed(other than by chicks lol), I'll leave well enough alone until the suspension is settled.

Tip to anyone thinking about buying custom headlights.

DO YOUR RESEARCH AND DON'T IMPULSE BUY

For what I paid I thought I was getting OEM assemblies, the aftermarket assemblies do not have the rigidity of OEM, pay the extra if you can afford it and ask before hand what they use, brand specific.

Won't repost all images, there is a trail of them already showing progress from the start.

On a side note, I went through a car wash today and no leaks. That's a plus, ut I still have to replace the drivers side lens. Ironically enough after the car wash the separation blemish or whatever it is wws reduced a bit. Thinking it will vary with hit and cold temps but will never correct itself.

Sorry to see you aren't totally satisfied. Thanks for the words of warning! Looks a lot better now than it did. Good job

    A further update.

Just had to buy a passenger headlight assembly as it has also started to cloud up. Guessing it was some sort of pressure issue when the lenses were originally removed. I'll have to look further when I get around to swapping out both lenses.

Having to buy two used assemblies has now exceeded the reimbursement from the original alignment issues.

What a fuster cluck this has turned into.

I think for purposes of open discussion and not for purposes of slamming, that posting who built your retros is completely appropriate.

I have no problem with that. I've debated with myself many times on whether or not to do a review on them, but had hoped just maybe they learned from their mistake(s). That apparently isn't the case, I have received two Pm's regarding this thread, the first was asking if it was xxxx, which it was not and I left it at that and did not dosclose who it was. Then just this morning I was asked if it was ToyotaManiacs, which it was, and I was truthful in doing so.

I have to get back to work, I'll continue a bit later. First image is drivers side, it now goes from end to end and about 1/4 the way down. 2nd is passenger and it just started a few days ago.

Hard to see but youcan see it.

Those have to be cracked open, cleaned, then resealed soon. I say this because I had an old set that would fog up during very inclement weather and never cleaned them. Between the moisture and the sun it became a permanent part of the plastic lens because when I finally opened the lights, I couldn't remove the cloudiness.

    Jeez.

ToyotaManiacs is a TW user? Not a name I've ever noticed on here. If it were me, I'd replace the headlights with a new set of retros and take your bad set in return, reseal them and sell them as like new retros, that needed resealing, at a discounted price. With the mark up retros receive on price, that seems totally fair.

Definitely the way to go if you are a vendor and care about customer satisfaction. And for the price of retros with the housing assembled already, it is pretty ridiculous that OP is experiencing these issues and having to deal with them on his own.

This is not moisture. It's almost like a separation of layers in the acrylic or whatever these lenses are made of Eaglez Eye or something like that is the brand name.

I posted an image earlier in the thread when I first noticed it, you can see a bullseye looking center to it, it spread out with the heat, but I can say with almost certainty it is not moisture related.

Mjb477 is the member name used here.

Definitely not a moisture issue, those housings are shit quality.

Shame on Mjb477, IMO. Pretty low quality product, and I'm sure they're not sold for low prices to reflect it.

As far as pricing, I was quoted $900 initially. I countered with $825 and we settled at $850.

After install is when the rotation issue came up, I was intially all but told to piss off they were correct. This thread proved otherwise. It was not until I threatened to and eventually did file a dispute with my credit card issuer that the tone changed. I made reference to a labor reinbursement since I basically jad to uninstall and figure out how to correct. Hoping it would be somewhat easy, I asked for 2 hours at $65 per hour for my time to do such. He refunded $130 and I canceled the dispute.

Since then I have now had to buy two used assemblies in hopes of swapping lenses at a cost of $155. Not sure how well OEM lenses will transfer to aftermarket bodies but only time and trial and error will tell that story.

    $60 HIDs. $60 halos. $220 housings.

Add a wiring harness and sell for $850 with no warranty on manufacturing defects of the equipment he selected.

    Quality.

Add in he said that his previous build was the same way and was right, and sounds like his last build was still the same way.

Just seems like a, "This is how we do it, and we're not going to change it" mind set.

He should still honor manufacturing defects. He doesn't eat money if he orders headlight housings and they're defective. He returns them.

Which is why I said he shouldn't be bending you over on defective housings either.

Yes I've seen that happen with aftermarket/non OEM lenses you're right.
