THAT THING IS SWEET!!! I've seen similar ones before, but this one is the nicest I've seen. They have that thing completely styled out, wow!!!! Wonder if we could build something like that?!!?? Very cool, love that idea!! :)

Oh, the other thing you mentioned - about trading in MY Taco? C'mon Keakar. You honestly think there's ANY chance that I would trade that thing in now, or anytime soon? Or even on my deathbed for that matter? You should know better!!! :rofl:They will have to pry it out of my cold dead hands!! (or however that saying goes :D)

its called an elcamino or ranchero lol. I wish they still sold them new.

then you could also go with an escalade $$$$$$$$$$

as for the Subaru, I'd pass on it, my sister owns one and she likes it and hasn't had any problems with it but said she would buy something different if she could undo buying it. I hear things about them, nothing major, just endless little aggravating issues with things

Really? People around here love them. It's the official car of the northwest or some crap like that. Every other car on the road is an outback, not really kidding.

The big drawback for us is that we couldn't take it on ~50% of the little trips we do, the stuff with the more seriously bad roads that require good clearance. We could keep using the Taco for those trips though, then the Suby would be WAY better for daily commuting/MPG. And it could handle ~50% of the "fun" driving we do, like decent roads to closer hiking trails and stuff, or if we ever got back into snowboarding, a Suby would be great for snow & ice driving.

Biggest downside is we'd be back up shit creek and crying hard whenever the Taco broke down again, because suddenly we couldn't do that other ~50% of fun driving that the Taco allows us to do, plus hauling stuff would be out again. Until we repaired or replaced the Taco. Again.

And the thought of going through that nightmare again anytime soon almost makes me want to just get a 2nd truck or at least a 4Runner now, in spite of the ridiculous MPG difference.

Confused. Gotta make up our minds what is most important to us, can't have every little thing we want. :angrygirl:

you know I was right the first time, buy the taco and blame me for anything you don't like later on lol

and for daily commuting and great mpg you should get this 140 mpg scooter: http://www.genuinescooters.com/stellaauto.html
you can run all your errands and go all week on 1 gallon of gas, and if need be get a side car for dolly

well a high mileage car for running around isn't going to go off the pavement much less on trails so you cant have both and I don't think you can afford a second vehicle that cant be used for all your activities.

I just worry "for you" that while your "thinking" someone will grab that steal of a deal on the taco and laugh at you for not buying it when you had the chance. not saying don't check it out good, just saying you cant delay with a rare, hard to find, vehicle like that. it should be in your driveway by Friday or expect it to be sold when you go back there.

Eye yey yey. Just found another Taco not terribly far from here for $11,500. It's a 99 with 109K. Had 4 owners, but first 3 were in CA and most recent was in WA. No salt. No accidents. Hmmm.

but is it 4wd TRD? lets see it

by the way, where do you get this idea there is salt in Mississippi? only if its backed into salt water would it ever be near salt and only 3% of Mississippi is near salt water. mine was from texas and went to Alabama then Mississippi and the frame looks as clean fresh and new as the day it was built. I even checked to see if the frame had been replaced but its all original, that's how good it looked.

HOLY SHIT, found a nice Taco!!! It's in CA, but the price is right for the mileage. 111,000, and it's a 2003 with ONE previous owner that lived in CA. Wow. For $13,500. Makes the red one from last night look like garbage when comparing everything! Wondering if there is some hidden issue with this one.

im buying it right now, gonna double the price if you want to buy it lol.

well my opinions still stand, these trucks go FAST! so if you like it buy it and don't think about it for a week or you will lose it.

you just didnt want to buy a red one, that's what it was :p, but seriously one without paint issues is best and try to find a white one so you can join the club

    SHIT!!! I knew it!!

Emailed Eric about it, we'll see what he thinks. It's pretty far away, so it might sell before we could get down there. Looks good at first glance though, we'll see what we can figure out.........

Gotta run to get some groceries. Need to replenish the fruit supply - eating ridiculous amounts of fruit and some veggies is what is getting me through quitting smoking. Need more grapes, carrots, cherries, berries........all the yummy stuff :)

Back later for more car searching and TW time!! :D

I personally think you should get another taco or just go for the 4runner. If nothing else just for ease of maintenance and parts interchangeability. I own two tacos and wouldn't have it any other way!! Once you work on one you know exactly what to do on the other one. No new or different system or component to figure out!! Once something fails on one you know what to look, listen for and how to fix it on the other.

As for the Subaru thing....do you really wanna look like literally ever other car on the road up there in the big P area!?!?

    I didn't realize you had 2 Tacos. Cool!!! :)

Good point about the Subaru thing

OK, flowers watered, kitchen clean, list made, even showered and fed myself (do I get a treat? gold star maybe? :D)......time to really get my butt to the store now.

    Bye for now TW! :D

just remember, anything before 01 has no frame warranty so look at 03-04 years so you still have a few years of frame warranty protection left, plus they are better looking versions.

    04 ends in 2019
    03 ends in 2018
    02 ends in 2017
    01 ends next year
    00 and earlier your SOL

OK, I am currently leaning towards a Taco or 4Runner and think Eric is too, but am still including others we'd consider in my searches. And that Outback seems like a reasonable price for 1 owner and less than 100K. The carfax looks like the person took great care of it - regular oil changes at the dealer, etc.

Whatcha think TW peeps (AKA Subaru consultants on the side)? :D
