Ive had my Taco for over a month now...I came from a Ford ranger w/2.5l, and it was pretty anemic. And my wife's Nissan Versa w/1.8l is just about the biggest joke ever. It literally can not maintain 75 MPH on a 10% grade with the air on.

Anywho, I wanted a V6, but the deal to be had was my regular cab 4WD w/2.7l. I was a little worried, especially with the added weight of being 4WD, but I have to admit, Im VERY happy with it. I have never had to operate the engine over 3000 RPMs at anytime, and was delighted when I found out the 2.7 makes 159 HP/180 lb. ft. of torque.

Anybody else happy with their 4 banger?

Mine works just fine for what I use it for. It will move pretty quick above 3500 rpm too. Do you have the 4 speed or 5? The 5 speed gearing really helps for pulling and climing.

Hey, did you black out your front emblem? If so, did you take it out to paint, and if so, how does it come off?

I did. There are (IIRC) 3 clips that hold it into the grill assembly. If you pop your hood and look down you'll see them. It just unclips and pulls out, then you can paint it and pop it back in.

I took it off and painted it and reinstalled it, it's actually Plasti-Dip as I wasn't sure I was going to like the change. I do like it, a lot, and the derp hasn't been damaged at all and still looks great so I've left it alone.

It's very easy to remove! You don't need to remove the grill at all, it's just literally popping the hood and reaching down and pushing the clips out.

I like my 2.7 w auto. Its 2wd with 3.58 rear. Just upgraded to 31" wranglers and it still pulls a trailer well. My cousin had a 2013 dc 4x4 with the 4.0. It had a bit more power but got 14-17 mpg mixed driving. mine gets 20-21mpg all around, 23-24 hwy.

I'm happy with mine, so far, but it's no powerhouse. When I'm allowed to leave the boonies for a trip to the big city, I've learned to just floor it when merging and let it scream. It does the job. That doesn't help mpg much, but the mpg is nothing to write home about even when driving Miss Daisy.
