I will be getting the clear lens with the blacked out housing. Just curious here, how could I go about putting a projector in these housings without spending an additional $500. Is it possible?

If you are willing to do the work yourself you can actually do a basic retrofit for a very reasonable price.

Right on, I don't think you will regret it. As an added bonus not only do they perform well, but it gives you the ability to black out the stock reflection bowl. I don't have any up close pics of mine but I'm sure you have seen how they look finished... definitely sets your lights apart from all the other tacomas flying down the road.

I think you'll be happy with the difference made between a halogen housed HID and a proper projection HID setup, @bowhunterRN.

IF you look in my albums there are some pics of the first set I did myself (projector kit from TRS) and some in my live album of the ones burt did for me. His are so much nicer but a lot of $ also.
if you take your time you can do it.
One point make sure your shrouds are on tight. One of mine came off while offroad and had to open em up again to fix it.

That's a good point on the shrouds. I had read about that so just put a tiny bit of epoxy on them so I wouldn't need to worry about them coming off down the road.
