So...can you just call and boom you get new leafs or do I have to wait until one starts flailing around?

I put in an AAL yesterday so now I'm more concerned with them even swapping mine out since I have messed with them myself...

I've been bringing home real loads of wallboard and plaster and sacks of redi-mix in mine this summer, and no broken leaf yet, but the truck is squatting on the left a lot more now.

Time is not on my side.

Do the new 4 leaf packs have 2 clamps around the front section of the pack on each set? Because the 2012 4 leaf pack I scored with less than 5k on them do. Looks like 1 of the clamps was meant to protect the tank in case of issue. It is a nice thick squarish clamp or retainer that matches the other ones, nothing that was added on after the fact. Not sure the recall ones will do anything better for my truck since it is reg cab now on 4 leaf oem packs. I don't haul anything heavy enough or regularly enough to sag these out that I can see happening.

Hmm, has there been a confirmation on the exact year range they are replacing the springs on? Ive got an 07 SR5, and have not been able to reach anybody at my local dealer to find out.

Ah, so there is indeed a way to look those up

Edit: It does indeed show that my truck is included, am i SOL until they officially announce the remedy or should i go talk to my local dealer and see if they will execute the recall now?

I have a letter from Toyota notifying me. I should get another when the remedy is known/ready to be scheduled. I'd check with your dealer about getting registered with Toyota in their system. Not sure exactly how that works. Maybe somebody on here does.

Went in to have my frame inspected and while I was there I asked about the leaf springs and what I should do since I've added 3 leads to each side to achieve my lift; after the oe leafs have sagged so much. The service reps response was that I will not have an issue seeing as I've added leafs so it's not something I need to worry with. But I did get him to say that for my case I would need to remove the extra leafs bring it in for replacement then go home and re-add the leafs I need.

Big toyota is still figuring out what their fix will be. Currently they are replacing all the springs on the bare frames that are in for frame recall. They will pull from those if your springs have already broken. Outside of that, you are in the same boat as the rest of us, and have to wait for Toyota to start sending the actual recall letters out

That sucks... my dealer is going to inspect my AALs when they do the spring swap, and if it's good they are going to reinstall them on the new spring packs. If they are bad for any reason, they are going to let me order new AALs and they will install them for me. They are also going to do my Ubolt flip.

He said "we are already there, and throwing in the AAL and Ubolt kit would take zero time, so why the hell not" I just have to pay install for my aftermarket parts.

Could have been because I went after work and was in uniform though...

I was registered in their system automatically when I went in for an oil change and a full inspection after I got my rig back to the states.

    Broken leaf spring
    Quick update:

I had over 275K miles on my 07 and they covered both leaf spring assemblies...they were keen to point out its a new 4 leaf pack as opposed to the old ones that had 3. This is definitely a recall issue - not a warranty issue...but for purposes of full disclosure - the rep mentioned that they don't have enough parts available for everyone...hence the staggered recall notices. If you do have a problem though; it will be covered.

I'm now about to fax Toyota a bunch of paperwork and history about their initial mis-diagnosis and complete drive-train replacement in 2014...the wobble my truck had was definitely not fixed by new u-joints, axles, bearings, etc. But once I got my truck back from Toyota this time - it was definitely remedied...it was sitting at least an inch higher and felt like a new truck.

Wish me luck on recouping the cost of the drive-train replacement; this should be fun! ;)

Has anyone received a second letter from Toyota concerning what the fix will be? I am looking to get reimbursed for a leaf I had replaced on my own dime 2 years ago.

When did we get these safety recall notices? I'm thinking I got mine at least over a year ago. Seems to me this must not be about safety any longer.. Has anyone recieved the second notification letter about remedy?

Yes the recall letters came out a year ago... Sept 2016 they will have a remedy...:fingerscrossed:

    Have not received 2nd letter...:help:

I just bought a truck (used 2008) and typed in the vin on toyota and leaf recall came up....

I remedied the steering wheel clock spring and had my frame inspected for rust...:homer:

but my truck is sagging like a f**kin teenagers pants... on the left side 2" more than the right...

looked under the truck and saw heavily corroded leaf springs that were bent.... :goingcrazy:

Planning a trip to Tahoe and need this sh*t fixed but Toyota is takin is sweet time...:frusty:

Apparently they will reimburse us prerunner/4x4 people for any work we do on the rear leaf springs...:notsure:

I think I am just going to go to my mechanic and have them replaced and then save the invoice for Toyota to reimburse me...

I am in the same boat, leafs are sagging bad but I don't think they are broken. Do you know if the dealer will pay back work done if it was for something like a OME kit?

Thats what they claim on their website...

Turns out the previous owner put rubber spacers on top of the struts in the front to give it a california raised look (high in front, slightly low in back)...

The spacer makes the car drive out of alignment and the whole truck leans to the left... leaving 1 inch more of tire to fender space on the opposite side

causes my car to sway at 55+mph and wears tires unevenly...

Looks like I will be upgrading the whole suspension kit... there goes $1,500.00 for struts, shocks, coil overs, Front Control Arms, leafs, and parts/labor :annoyed::mad::crapstorm::sadviolin::violent::pccoffee:

Just take the spacers off or go get it aligned by someone you trust to do it right...

I have spacers on mine and don't have any of the issues you have mentioned. Just get a proper alignment done. They had to align mine a few times to get it in spec after I put the spacers on but once they finally did I have had 0 problems.
