Hail damage, paintless dent removal?

Had three vehicles damaged in a hail storm last night with golf ball size plus hail. Any thoughts or advice on dent repair, mainly paintless dent removal?

 

I've had some paintless dent repair accomplished in the past with good results.

I'm not sure but would guess you have way more dents than the few small ones I had in two different vehicles.

Do you have coverage on the 3 vehicles?

Have you spoke with your agent or paintless dent repair guy yet?

How extensive is the damage? Are there any creases in the metal?

 

I've yet to talk to my insurance company or any repair shops, will be doing that next week. We have coverage on two of the vehicles, the other I'm hoping might be covered under our house insurance. Was just curious on peoples experience with using a paintless dent removal service.

 

I'm sure there's other cats on TW that have had paintless dent repair.

I've had it performed 3x on two different vehicles. Two repairs on a black BMW. One being a rock ding on the door the other a rouge bicycle into the drivers door while it was parked. Both the repairs on that car restored appearance to 100%. No paint had been removed. The other car was a white VW TDi that had collided with a boat (yes, it was me and no, I won't detail the event) . But, it left a slight crease post repair.

Overall, I was very satisfied with the repair and would use it again.

Are the dents something the a suction cup or ice/heat could remove on the PLPD covered car?

 

Anyone ever try the dry ice trick? My sister in laws element was damaged similarly and I thought about trying this out on it

Depends on your insurance, most covered hail damage if you have full coverage w/o upping your rate.

From my personal experience, I had it done twice for wife's CRV in past 3 years and no rate increases. (Had progressive). They will recommend their own contracted dealer or you can take the check and go to your own dealer of choice. (Think the deductable was taken out, can't remember)

My truck however, earned extra character and beauty marks!

 

I just had a dent removed Tuesday by the "ding doctor"... he did a great job but it isn't cheap. I paid $80 for the on dent and that was after talking him down from $100. not sure if there is a bulk discount.

Also, the ability to cleanly remove the dent depends on the location of the dent. The tech needs to be able to get tools under it for get it perfect. I would guess most of you dents are on the hood and roof... the hood will probably be easy but by the time you are done it may be cheaper to get a junk yard hood and have it painted. as for the roof, I haven't a clue how he/she would fix it... may need to remove the liner.

there may be a way to do this from the top only. having had dents removed more than once I can say they like to do it from the inside.
