Yeah that could be it. That would be my best guess too, I guess the only thing throwing me off is that they weren't on the passenger side too. Either way I would suggest leaving them in place in case they do have some function.
Thanks for the order. I'll add you to the list right now.

So I've looked into the fitment of the Under the AC switches into the dash and was a bit surprised with what I found. Below is both a green and amber illumination switch. They are built the same including the raised ledges. image.jpgimage.jpg

Member @Denk had a fitment issue with his switch and had to remove two ledges. Although I had only installed one under the AC kit myself, the switch slipped in just fine. After doing a bit of looking into it I can see now that the switch openings under the AC have multiple keyed configurations.
    image.jpg

These keyways don't assist in any way to hold the switch in place. My best guess is that each slot is keyed differently to eliminate a switch from being put in the wrong location at the factory.

For the under the AC option you may need to remove 1 or more ledges for the switch to fit. A quick way to do this is with a palm sander, a dremel with a round sanding drum or even a small block with coarse grit sand paper. Given the different variations for each switch blank I will be unable to determine which ledge must be removed for everyone as that will change based on what year Tacoma you have and what switch blank you use.

This seems to apply just to the under the AC option. The left of steering 15 minute switch has had no reports of not slipping in and the 5 minute switch does have one extra ledge that I remove before sending out.

You can put me on the list for Left of Wheel / 15 Minutes / Green **HARNESS AND SWITCH ONLY - OMIT MIRRORS**

I thought I saw a price posted earlier for the kit with out the mirrors, but can't seem to find it now.

Okay thank you very much for the order! A kit without mirrors is $120 discount.

I actually messed up on the kit without mirror pricing. $110 is what my average cost is for the mirrors delivered, so anyone wanting a kit without mirrors can take $110 off of the cost of the kit. It's a bit of a moving target depending on where they need to get shipped and I believe the $120 was based on a worst case scenario.

Now that said I did put it out there that it would be $120 off if no mirrors so anyone who has ordered a kit at this point and doesn't need mirrors can take $120 off. For future orders that will be $110 off.

    Sorry for the oversight.

This is a great looking kit! I have been wanting something like this for a long time. The only real gripe I have with Toyota is not having options like this on the Tacoma. You can find them on a lot of the other vehicles they make but when it comes to the Tacoma the options are few and far between. But thanks to the great members of TW, we can have all the options we want...

    1) Left
    2) 5
    3) Amber

I agree with you on that one. My wifes 2004 Rav4 has heated mirrors and 10 years later my Tacoma does not lol. I can honestly say where I live, even if that had been a $500 factory add on I probably would have gone for it. It does look like the 2016's will start having more creature comforts built into them though.

    Thanks for the order!

    Hey Guys,

Just an update on a couple of things. I'm going to make this weekend the cut-off for any early kits. To be fair to everyone on the September waiting list there has to be a stop point to early shipments. If you would like to take an early shipment you have to let me know by Sunday. Starting on Monday any orders that come in will go to the main list. Also if asking for an early kit it means you are prepared to purchase and have it shipped as soon as it is ready.

I will have a large shipment of stock arriving next week. At that point I'll be working behind the scenes when I get time to start making a bunch of kits for everyone.

There are a couple of early Under the AC kits waiting on relays before I can ship. Sorry about that... I had a problem with my last order of relays. The company who makes these relays made a subtle change to how they build them and unfortunately that change had a negative effect on this particular application. It took a bit of testing and discussions back and forth to figure out what was going on, but now that the cause was determined they have agreed to start building my orders to their old specs. I'm just waiting on the replacement batch to be sent to me. I guess that is one of the advantages to having all this stuff tested before I ship though.... the problem was caught before it made it into any finished kits

Some supplies are starting to roll in

Couple thousand feet of pure copper primary wiring

Some mirrors for you guys north of the border :canada:
    image.jpg

Lots of other stuff like switches, terminals, wire loom etc. My wife has forced me to relocate to the basement to build these now lol, guess I can't blame her though.

Also just a reminder that anyone thinking they would like to get a head start on their install before September needs to make it known this weekend. After this weekend all orders go to the main list which will start shipping out in September.

Simply put, this weekend is your last chance to get a kit now rather than waiting!

So I have noted the extreme level of interest in this mod and I believe that I understand the idea fully..

The one thing that I don't understand is why heated mirrors are necessary?.. I live in a place with winters that hover in the -10 to 33 degree Fahrenheit range and there is plenty of precipitation and variable humidity. Yet, I have never been in a situation where heated mirrors would really have been even remotely necessary. Anyone care to enlighten me?

What frost? When my windshield is a sheet of ice and the roof of the truck is coated in ice and everything else is snow and ice the side mirrors are always fine..

Mine are always frosted over , scrape them off and about 5 minutes down the road they are frosted over again , maybe your area has significantly lower humidity on average during winter
