just wanted your guys opinions on which you think I should get. First off please don't reply with with cold air intakes do nothing for our trucks, that is why I am looking into getting one of these forms of intakes. One is a full system that can be closed with the supplied top and the other just replaces the factory inlet tube, this is why I did not include other types like k&n or AEM CAI. I have the mod bug and just want some insight.
    Part numbers for both
AFE -54-82342(would get the dry filter)
AEM- 22-681C also dry filter but I have already contacted AEM and they told me they would sale just the tube and parts kit due to me already having a drop in filter

    Thanks for your inputs.

I'm not going for the noise aspect. That's why I considered the AEM tube because it allowed me to obtain the factory air box. But also considered the other because it is a close air intake and I know that's why people bash the others because they are open, defeating the purpose of a cold air intake. Ha

I know a lot of people dislike CAI and don't think they have a use unless you have force induction but there has to be something to gain. Even if it's a little. Idk that's why I'm asking.

Replacing the tube but leaving the air box will only add noise and if you do any serious off roading I do not recommend it.

I had one and it broke my air box because unlike the stock air intake tube that bends the AEM tube is solid.

Sold it as soon as I got home to a guy with an S-runner.

If you aren't going for noise then just do a drop in filter..

They do in WA but I have Florida plates. I'm on the military therefore I don't have to do smog.

Does make sense being a solid pipe. But I don't do any serious off-roading but thinks for bringing that to mind as well!

Lucky me!! Florida has no state tax as does WA so I just stayed a Floridian for that very reason. Haha

So yea I don't see how it would break anything. It still has a flex Hose that goes into the air box.

Whatever CAI you go with, go with one with a dry filter. That basically puts you with Volant or AFe. The Volant has a better, IMHO, filter if you go with the Donaldson dry because of it's massive surface area.

No nearly as much flex as the stock tube.

OP, unless you want more noise or or supercharged with smaller pulley and supporting fueling mods... a CAI on these tacomas is 100% pointless.

I will def go dry. I have k&n drop in now which has never given me trouble because I don't over lube but it is to time consuming.

    Why are you surprised?

90% of the active folks on this forum all agree CAI are a total waste of money you could spend on actual functional mods...

But hey its your money to waste. :bananadead::deadhorse:
