2015 Tacoma rear shock mounts changed - OME not an option?

Very interesting. I went and compared a 2007 and a 2015 that we had here in the parking lot, and I could not find any difference in the mounts. Must be just a hit and miss on some of the brackets.......

 

so if this is an issue with OME, wouldnt it be an issue with other shocks?

or is this specific to OME?

bilsteins, kings, icons, etc..

 

Shocks like the Bilstein 5100s don't have an issue due to the shock body being on the top side.

 

@YotaDan Is the 2015 a sport, an OR, or a base/SR5?

And how much longer are your OME kits on sale for? I haven't spent engouth money with you on my 01, so now I need to spend it on my 15

 

I think we will keep them at the price at least until Sep-Oct.

I hear you on that. Always seems to be a Juggling act.

 

Could be debatable depending on shock body size, pinion angle, position of the axle etc. As an example, some springs move the axle back a small amount. Add in a pinion shim, and the drivers side shock mount (on the rear of the axle) could really have some clearance issues.

 

can someone with a 2014/13 with ome shocks take a pic of the mount with the shock in compression?
and maybe someone with a 2015 who's shock just went on no problems?
i see the issue here and would like to see what the mounts looked like before this change

I have a 2014 TRD Off Road and the rear 60091 shocks are really close to the shock mount, maybe touching at full droop in the rear. When the truck is standing on its own, the shock body clears. It also took a little convincing to get the bottom of the shock into the mount. Wonder if I got a 2015 axle...

 

I knew something was different on the '15's rear suspension. Switched my Firestone air bags over from a '12 Sport to a '15 Off Road, and it was not a straight swap over, had to re-angle the 90 degree air inlet to clear a new beefier bracket on there.

 

I just finished installing my OME loft tonight

And was wondering when you installed the rear shocks was it a pain in the ass to get the bolt on the top of shock to sit down far enough so you could grab it with another wrench like a 5mm to tighten it?

The top of the rear shock is very soft metal and I was pissed I kind of messed it up

Still got the shock mounted up but damn lol pissed I messed it up I'm a little OCD

 

So is it full drop where this will be an Issue? Just installed my lift a month ago, haven't been off-road yet. Just checked it sitting in the garage, and it is close. When I installed, the bushing fitment was really tight. Figured it was the bushing, didn't think the bracket may interfere with the shock body.
