Nice... As soon as you have pics of all the new features, post them up! Depending on cost and how everything looks I may be down to trade for a newer one.

And since I'm here I might as well post a pic of my most recent camp.

wasn't me. i tried sewing some d-rings to the mat and then feeding the velcro strap that holds the mattress down through it. but the weight of hte mat was too much and it ended up ripping the mat (just a little bit)

just do like i said - fold the mattress, place the mat on top, then close the tent. when you go to set up everything stays on the bottom side and you just have to flip everything in place. lot less trouble that way.

Oddly enough I put a hole in the velcro strap in each corner under the matress that's supposed to keep the matress in place. Then I zip tied the condensation mat through that hole. It's been like that for a year with no issues.

I recently acquired a CVT Mt. Rainier. It is used and has a few minor issues that I can manage, however, the one thing that bugs me is it has clear windows. Two of the side windows are clear plastic. I plan on using some 3M backed Velcro strips and use some black out curtain material to cover them up. I was just curious if anyone else had this style of windows and if they modded up something better to block out the light and/or add privacy.

Just try my way, it works.

I think that when the "stargazer" option first came out there were a few tents that got messed up and the windows got the clear material in place of the canvas that should have been there. Maybe the original owner wasn't aware of this or maybe they were and just didn't tell you...

I got no beef with the seller, he was good Army kid. He set it up when I showed up to buy it and pointed out all the minor issues. I was just too freaking excited to finally be getting an RTT to notice the clear windows :dancingbacon:

No she is just saying that instead on trying to fasten it to the floor with the velcro. To just fold the mattress and mat over. That way when you go to open it stays folded over when you open it. You then climb up and unfold it. That way it won't get caught in the hinge part. I've started doing it this way also because my mattress kept getting stuck and didn't want to lose my fingers. Hope this makes sense

One feature I really like about the eezi awn is the two piece mattress. It eliminates alot of the folding issues. At first I thought it was going to hinder sleep because the pads would separate but the cover holds them together nicely and it works well.

at least someone understands me.... :gossip: Bemjammim's a little slow sometimes....

I kinda wish mine had a two piece mattress - I can see the foam breaking down eventually at the fold. Having two pieces would eliminate that problem - I figured there could be two pieces with a velcro strip on the covers to keep them together.

We take 3- 1x3" straps like aluminum. we drill holes in them and put a self tapping screw through them into the floor to hold the mat to the tent only on the ladder side. You will want to hit the joist in the floor.

    Thank Bobby,

I called you as someone had mentioned in a post after mine. We had talked about meeting at Overland Expo.

I apologize for not posting back in this thread after you graciously offered to get me a new tent. I have not read this thread again until just now. Thank you again!

From what we have done and installed ..Yes. We put the strips at the end of the tent by the ladder and it has worked well. If you still have issues with it after this please let me know.

    He'll mess it up....
My concern with fastening the mat to the floor of the tent is that you will eventually have to remove it to clean the tent (i wash out my tent about once a month- dirt from shoes and from the ladder when it's folded up) and risk stripping the hole. So then you've got to make another hole....
