    72 months? Jesus.

I wouldn't ever recommend anyone have a car note longer than 36 months. If that's going to be necessary, you probably can't afford the vehicle.

Keep in mind the cost of ownership is also going to rise. You'll be spending more on gas at the very least, and the Dodge will probably have more mechanical issues because...well, it's not Japanese.

I see full size trucks as impractical for people who don't regularly tow huge loads (8000lbs+) or haul huge loads (1500+). And honestly, guys in the Heavy Shit Moving business usually go full bore on a $50k dually monster.

The current Tacoma is the same size as the American full-size trucks of the 90s, and has similar capacities. America's manhood problem (i.e. my truck is lon..er, bigger than your truck) has led to some truly absurd super-size vehicles in recent years.

I have to agree with this. Of the non-Toyota trucks my friends have owned, Ford seems to be the most competent. The consumer groups also rate them highly in data collected from owner surveys. Seems there's a reason the F-150 has been America's best selling vehicle for like 3 decades.

Why not just go to shitjunkplanet.com and ask them if you should trade your taco for a gas guzzling waste of money.

    There's a reason they're practically giving Dodge's away...

For me, it's not only a quality issue but also a philosophical one because I refuse to do business with a company that took a bailout or one tied to the UAW. But that's just me.

I agree with everything else you said except that. It's 0% financing; what difference does it make how long it is?

If you were to get a bigger truck Just opt out for a Cummins. Only Dodge I'll ever buy.

Edit: Or wait til they put the 5.0 Cummins in the ram 1500.

Why doesn't Toyota team up with Caterpillar and make a version for both the Tacoma and Tundra? Think of the the instant market share they would gain just because of the Cat name. With technologies like 3D CAD CAM and rapid prototyping how hard could it be to come up with a light version of the Cat 3304?

Chevy tried this a while back. Seemed Cat had a hard time developing a light duty deisel that would fit in a PU body. IIRC, the cooling system was the issue. I read that in Trailor Life, about 5 or 6 years ago.

Yeah, I realized that after I posted that. I absolutely hate that and maybe that's why I'm starting to have issues...

It is prrof that with good engineering it doesn't matter who puts them together. Look how many people on here take satisfaction out of doing their own work on their tacomas. With the big 3 they do everything they can to make a simple issue a dealer affair, or a job for double jointed midget. I honestly beleive toyota lines up a bunch of shade tree mechanics and makes sure the average joe can effortless perform most any task on their truck.
