Thanks for checking in. I hope you know that you have a lot of support from fellow members on here. Even if it may not reduce some of the pain you are feeling, just know that there are people out here that you can reach out to and just talk things over with. The replies on this thread are evidence of that. Hang in there. We all wish you the best.

I can understand the road you are traveling down. My neck is fused ( 2 operations)& we share the same meds for pain.which for me are more like aspirin .I thank God for my wife ,without her fighting for me & being there for me I would't have made it. Have you tried Butrans or lidocaine patches ,they help me ,maybe they can work for you.Or maybe a tens unit? With all the other stuff I've tried (and I really don't know the true effects of this) a bone growth regenerator . I hope some of this will help! I wish you the best ,please take care & I hope your wife is as wonderful as mine ! God Bless you and everyone today this 4th july

Well things have turned for the worse. My Dr drop the ball on me and didn't do the referral. So four more weeks and still nothing being done. My food intake is next to none. At a drop of a pin I come close to passing out and then I get bad sick and then start throwing up. Spent 5 hours in a fucking Dr office yesterday just to try and get a Dr referral and refills for the meds. They have now put me on morphine time release every 8 hours. He up my Gabapentin from 100MG to 300MG every eight hours. If this is what slow death feels like I want no part of it.

Hi OP. I know it's rough. My dad went through a lot of back pain due to tumors getting into the spinal canal and some other injuries.

I'm a development engineer for a spinal device company and I specialize in the cervical area. If you're arms went limp and you've got weak grip, that's definitely a cervical spine injury. Likely re-injured yourself around C6. Massage or chiro might help some with the pain but it'll never get to the root of the problem.

If you want to PM me your city & state, I could reach out to my network to find out who the most reputable spine doctors are in your area. Possibly help you get in for a quick checkup. Not trying to sell you anything and won't even tell you the name of my company (unless you ask). Just thinking it sounds like you need to see a spine specialist asap and the one you've got might be overlooking something.

w bishop I read where you said you were on steriods ,but you didn't give any details. I get steriod shots in my neck (6) 3 each side ,and they do wonders.Every morning for about 3 months after the shots when I get up I 'am able to walk without doing the old man shuffle . Now my doc wants to try something called radio lateral frequency (or something like that) sorry I don't remember exactly its called, but basically they insert a large needle at the site and then insert another device and burn the nerve receptors to stop the pain. they do /will regenerate themselves in time so its not permanent. I am just throwing these ideas out to you in hopes something will help. Please take care ,and seek other dr's out until you can find one that can do you some good . Good luck friend, God bless !

Hey OP i know youve tried just about anything. cant imagine what your going thru. Im wishing you a speedy recovery. I did injure my back a while ago of course nothing close to what your going through but it did mess me up and took me out for about a month. Heres a few things that might help if you havent which im sure you have. Yoga, Meditation, Cold Baths, Warm Baths, therapeutic massages by a trained specialist, a chiropracter, Acupuncture, teas.. and something that ive been reading on lately is Placebo Effect. The mind is a powerful tool. Try different things you see at a flea market or at walmart. If you see something to "relief pain" do your research and maybe give it a try. Placebo effect might only be temporary but a little relief is better than no relief. Goodluck and keep us posted. Were looking out for you! Have a good day

And OP. Never give up. Dont ever let that even be a choice. I hope you dont take this comment as a bad thing. But there are people in worst shape and worst conditions and worst places. You mean alot to alot of people and whether you know it or not there might be someone who looks up to you and you might not even know. I mean no disrespect in anyway. i could not even imagine nor understand the pain your going through but i know you can get through this. Dont Give up OP. Were all cheering for you. And and im sure if any of us or anyone were to go go thru this yould be one of the first people we would remember and if you were to get through it it would help us get through it. Keep your head up OP there is a future:)

Dang that sucks OP. I have back problems too, not a severe as yours though. In your original post you stated that you've been on pain meds for 20+ years, lost 20 lbs. I bet you have seen and tried your fair share of pain meds, based upon your post it seems you haven't found one that will help you. I'm not saying this is the silver bullet that will change everything in an instance, it's more food for thought.

I mean, what do you have to loose at this point? It seems the meds you have tried over the last 20 years hasn't worked thus far.

After scrolling through some of the replies cbd and thc both have thier benefits. Here is a link that explains thier relationship and what they do.

    http://mychronicrelief.com/cannabis-101-thc-cbd/

Cbd is for the most part non psychoactive, thc is once it has been dehydrated. A lot is still not known about cbd due to the fact that most breeders were looking for high thc strains, cbd was basically lost over time. It is now becoming more popular due to the medical benefits they are discovering.

Most studies that were done on cannabis were tests to show how destructive or dangerous they were. Only now are we doing more testing on the medical benefits or the compounds found in cannabis.

But even in the states cancer patients have been using marinol for years which is a synthesized version of thc.

No not been on pain med 20 + years I have tried many and found none that I can get a long with. For about the last 9 or so years I have dealt with this with my mind. Since the fall last March that has not worked and have been on the meds since. I have lost a total of 20 pounds since I got hurt last March. On June 6 they put me on morphine every 8 hours. I hate the shit and it is still not able to keep up with what's going on. I don't take every 8 hours, I try to do it just once a day. Last Sat I went 4 days with no pain meds just to see how bad things are. Had to take the meds late on the fourth day. I was just about down on the bed by then.

I told the wife we needed to go to Colorado for a bit but they be no way I would drive out of that state with anything on me. I would never be able to make a trip that far in the shape I am in.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm not saying it's the magic silver bullet that will clear up all problems, but I think it is worth looking into. I was reading an earlier post and I think you might be in TN? Medical marijuana is also legalized in Washington DC, so you won't have to take a trip to Colorado, DC seems closer to you. I put up some links to youtube vids that were on cnn, if you have not watched them, I would encourage you too.

Back in the civil war days marijuana was used as a sedative when they did amputations, there have also been many documented cases of pain relief. Cannabis also helps with inflammation. If your loosing your appetite cause of meds your on now, morphine, and loosing weight, again cannabis can help get that back. Cancer patients report not being able to eat while going through chemo, cannabis helps gets the appetite back.

This may sound crazy, but do you have any friends that use cannabis recreational or medically?

I am still trying to see a spinal DR. My one DR dropped the ball on me twice about getting me hooked up with one. It's been a month and a half and no luck. So I went to the second DR I seen after I got hurt and tried to get him to help me, well that's been since the 7th of this month and no word yet but he is the only DR that has sat down with me and talked about just how bad things are but at the same time can't get me hooked up with someone. I have lost 3 more pounds in the last 2 weeks making it 20 in all. I am going to try and get this DR to get real aggressive with various test and MRI and CT Scans.

All this week when I bend over it feels like something is pulling on the inside of my chest, right side and when I stand back up it feels like something is pulling apart and takes my breath away. Most of the time I put up with what feels like small pieces bones that are grinding together all over my T spine and chest. The shit that is going on every day is still off the charts. I do see a good day every now and then. It's like the calm before the storm. Blood pressure has been flying all over. Woke up this morning with a fright train going through my head. That been going on for a few years.

I just don't understand why it is so hard to get DRs to do things that are talked about in the office but then when you are gone all is forgotten.
