    Just out of curiosity, does anyone know any details about Tacoma frames? (fully boxed, reinforced C channel??) I know the Tundra's use the triple tech deal, which I think Toyota needs to rethink, but what about the Tacos?

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    The first gens are a fully boxed frame, and the second gens are a reinforced C frame.

    Thanks Chris. I figured it was C channel, didn't know the 1st gens were boxed though. Wonder why they changed it?

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    The inner rail was a lot thinner than the outer rails. It really had no structural integrity, just rusted to hell.

    The fully boxed frames had the rust problem, I think that is one of the reasons why Toyota went with the open frame on the 2nd generations. Things like mud and salt can get trapped in a boxed frame causing corrosion.

    The box rusted from the inside out and there was nothing you could do about it. The C is open so you can get at any rust and clean it up before it's too late. That's mo betta IMHO

    Mine isn't either, i didn't say EVERY 2nd gen is rusting at this very moment did i? Therefore its not a blanket statement ...sheesh, but do a search there are numerous threads showing significant frame rust on 2nd gen tacos.
