Don't want to build one. Yes, I know it can be done. I probably could have built a WRX out of an Impreza too, but I opted for the former, not the latter. But I also see an STi going down the road and wish I would have gone all the way, too. Going all the way, or no way on my first truck purchase. Willing to pay more to have everything under factory warranty as well. Also I don't need to get anything really until next May, at the earliest. All this being said, if the pricing on the Tacoma PRO is insane (i.e. over $40k) I will most likely just get a 4Runner Pro.

Just called Toyota.. they said they are skipping 2016 and releasing a 2016.5 much like the 1995.5 first year of the Tacoma..

Also they will be adding a single cab V8 option for canada only.

I'm in Northern California my dealer told my allocation starts August 31st and that the specs would probably be released two weeks prior to that. I'm crossing my fingers for early October delivery.

I can't believe the Pro comes with Bilstein remote resi shocks. That's probably a 2000 dollar set when you realize they are charging you factory cost for something made by someone else

You should be ready to order the 4runner Pro.... the price on it will be 'insane' aswell. The price on the leak sheet for the limited already approach the 40k. You can look at the bright side of things though by seeing some F150's selling at $60+.
As long as manufactures offer it, people will buy it.

I'm with the wolverine... I'll probably wait until the pro is released to purchase a 3rd gen. With our current info there's a lot of reasons why "building a pro" doesn't make sense (Pre-cursor being you'd buy a Trd Off-road MT if you didn't buy pro).

    1.
The pro has been offered in MT in previous years so I imagine this will continue, also there's no way they don't give it the best possible sound system.

    2. Trd pro is the only way to get the rear locker and the hood scoop.

    3. It sounds like the leather seats are only available to the limited, I again will assume the other most expensive truck will come with a premium feature.

    4. I'd replace the suspension on both the Trd off-road and the trd pro, except the pros suspension would easily sell for 300-400$ more than the stock off-road suspension...

Well there it is, How on that?

From what I've seen, the 2015 limited DCs were about the same price as the TRD Pro DCs, if not $100 or so higher. Based on that, I wouldn't expect the std Pro to be higher than $40k, unless they are adding newer items for this generation (leather, std nav, additional off-road features, etc).

That was basically the same answer I got.

Except they told me anywhere from August to November.

Does this mean they built 2015s and 2016s at the same time? Any chance for a 2015 with a 2016 interior?

Toyota will promptly void your warranty once you take it off road, claiming you abused it. And if you're not taking it off road, why get a TRD Pro? Kind of a Catch 22, innit?

Can you give out any info on this new trans? Is 6th gear just an additional overdrive, or has gears 1-5's ratios changed from the 2 gens?

It's got an extra over drive because they are all 4.1 rear ends right?

You should be wishful is all I can say. You mention a 'std Pro' ....demand will set the price and limited is hovering at 40k off of leaked price. Someone mentioned they paid 35k for access cab to order it?

Only time will tell, I guess. I'd just have a hard time paying the same or more for a TRD Pro Tacoma vs a TRD Pro 4Runner, esp when the wife prefers the latter a little more.

Not quite. It sounds like they slipped the parts for one or two 2016's into the assembly line at night to train workers on the differences. I saw less than 5 of them in the plant the other day.
