    You're looking to see if the other wire dims the way you want. If one side goes brighter when you turn the dimmer dark the other side might get dark when you turn the dimmer dark.

    But the other wire sounds like it's a ground(dimmed -) so you would need to put the other end of your test light on a constant power wire (not the other dimmer wire, dimmed +12v).

    U mean just reversing how I did it the first time?

    Disregard the upper question. You responded before me. I got ya know! Yes that would explain why I wasn't getting anything off the other wire!

    Connect the positive and negative from the back of the dimmer switch to the positive and negative on the back of the V1D1 switches. Pins 6&7

    I was under the impression all Toyota use both wires. I had the same dimming issue when I tested a switch on an install. The inverse dimming is because all Toyota dim on both sides of the wires to put it simply. Try my method and report back. Bet it solves the issue.

    I thought he said he tried both wires, but I may be mistaken. I know when I first tried wiring something up it was reversed.

    @bry838 try as sky said.

    On the v series switches, can you use a fuse tap to pick up the dimmer positive and then just ground to some metal somewhere for the negative? That is terminal 6 on the switch would go to a fuse tap installed in a fuse slot that had power with the parking and head lights and terminal 7 on the switch connects to any convenient ground? I was trying to avoid splicing into the oem harness if possible, but I'm willing to do it if necessary.

    There is no spot on the fuse box that dims. You'll get your switches to illuminate just fine when the parking/head lights are on. But no dimming effect. You gotta go with the above info, (somewhere mid thread is good info on this too, if you weren't aware).... for the second gens of course.

    Doing it that way will work but they won't dim. If you are worried about splicing factory wires check out the product called Posi-Tap. Far less intrusive.
