I'm in! I don't plan to regear anytime soon but it would be good to have them!

If you haven't read through the last Group Buy for gears. This is a quote from ECGS almost two years ago, so these prices may not be accurate. I'm just posting them to give an idea of what we might be looking at.

My first choice would be a fully assembled clamshell for the front and 3rd for the rear but if that can't be included in the GB I'd want to know the deal on 4.10's front and rear with ARB's and complete install kits for both w/ solid spacers.

Unless you can set up the gears or know someone you can do it for cheap or free then it's still easier and cheaper to buy the 3rds and clamshells. BTW, setting up gears is NOT for the recreational mechanic. You need someone who 1. has experience and 2. knows what they're doing. They are not one in the same.

I already did a 3rd and it was fairly simple. Unbolt and remove existing 3rd, install new 3rd, add gear oil, pack and ship old 3rd back for core refund.

Thanks for the heads up, I've done a handfull of ring and pinion setups and a few ARB's in my other rigs (Rangers and Broncos) but I'd like to minimize my downtime and go with assembled thirds if I can swing the pricetag

Looking for: second gen 4:56 or 4:88 gears and arb lockers front/rear. Install kit

I'd really like to just get the assembled third/clamshell if at all possible.

Toyota noob here. I see the talk about clamshells and 3rds. Can someone give me a brief explanation? I plan to regear down the road and want to make sure I have all the info!

I'm not 100% sure, but I did post a quote on the OP from ECGS saying in a nutshell they do not discount fully assembled 3rds and Clamshells because they already discount all the parts going into them so they maintain their already low competitive prices.

A 3rd member is what carries your Ring and pinion Gear and your diff spider gears. A clamshell refers to the type of housing all of that is in, kind of like a Pumpkin on a solid axle. Google will show you pictures and even video's explaining how it all works.

    @akamrkent

    2012 4wd with an 8.4" rear end.

Interested in 4.88s front and rear as the 4.56s aren't doing too good for me right now. Also might be interested in ARB's front and rear depending on price.

What isn't "doing too good" about them? Curious as im considering 4:56s

I'm running heavy 35s, I'd rather have 4.88s and run a higher rpm for less downshifting on the highway. Mpgs are already 12-15 on the highway. I'm also building a rear TRD sport axle that I'm wanting to gear.

Na your good, I'm still figuring out how to best designate what people are looking for. If I wrote "No Locker" it means no lockers to order.

    stuff
seriously wish I could. Drooling over 4.56. Maybe 4.88. It's not much of a daily driver anymore so I may go big... Just can't now :annoyed:. Good luck to everyone for a big discount.

Subbed for that slim chance :fingerscrossed:

I'm going to contact ecgs to find out everything I'll need and then post their reply on here. At this time, I'm thinking about going with front and rear 4.88 gears with the accompanying install kits. No arb locker for me, although it is tempting since I already have the ckma compressor
