I think Texas is where they should be. I don't believe they're better than Bama or Florida, but there's nobody else I'd put ahead of them.

I was going to explain, but it looks like dwalden took care of it. The only team in the East we play EVERY year is Tennessee. The others rotate.

Besides, we have a conference championship game, so even if the "best" two teams don't play during the regular season, they'll meet the week after in a championship game. I think that's a far superior way to determine the best team in a conference than simply playing all the teams. Who was the best in the Big 12 South last year? Texas, OU and TTech all beat each other... the BCS ranking determined who went to the Big 12 championship game (which, as drifter will surely agree, was a BULLSHIT way to do it).** The same thing can happen in a conference 'who just plays everybody' rather than having a championship game... If a bunch of teams just beat each other, can you really call yourself the champion? At some point, tie-breakers are necessary, but they shouldn't determine a champion, and that's what can happen when you don't have a championship game. The PAC-10 and Big 10(11) need to add teams and get a +1 system or I"ll never consider them on par with the other conferences.

**If you want to know how it should be determined... You still use the BCS, but you use it to DROP the 3rd ranked team from consideration. Then you look at head-to-head. (Guess which conference does it like this.) Texas would have gone to the Big 12 Championship, then to the BCS Championship, then home licking their wounds anyway.

I've said this before (maybe this thread, maybe last year's)... I would put the SEC champion (undefeated, 1 or 2 loss - LSU won the BCS w/ 2 SEC losses in 2005) against any team in the country and bet on the SEC every time.

There is a lot of back and forth, and bowl victories aren't necessarily the answer to which conference is best... but of the 11 BCS national championship games, the SEC has won 5 (including the last 3). The Big 12 has 2, and the ACC, Big East, Big 10 and PAC 10 each have 1. I also thought it was interesting that the SEC has never lost a BCS NC game.

I enjoy watching PSU, Pitt, and WVU. BUT, cannot really get into college ball because they don't have a DAMN playoff system. Shame, shame, shame!!!

After reviewing tape that featured shots from several angles, the Pac-10's coordinator of football officials said the Pac-10 crew that worked last week's game at Notre Dame erred by not calling a penalty against the Fighting Irish on a fake field-goal play.

Notre Dame set up its first touchdown with a 25-yard gain that was achieved when the holder took a snap and then passed to a receiver, who had remained in bounds near the Notre Dame sideline when the field-goal unit came onto the field.

"It appears a foul should have been called for using substitutions to deceive," Dave Cutaia said.

Cutaia said Notre Dame should have been assessed a 15-yard penalty from the previous spot and repeated the down.

Carroll declined to comment about Cutaia's finding.

Don't know if I got it all in the quote but great explaination. Realt makes me understand mws4ua with the adition of D's about the sec. Starting to see why we differ but at the same time we come to together to understand why the BCS Is bad.

I love the fact that you never have conf battles in College Basketball because in the end... We get march madness!!! On of the best parts of the year ( close to the start of baseball, end of NHL, and a great golf tounry!!)
