Whats wrong with how it ingauges. From what I read it is kinda always ingauged but the outside turn axel is able to move faster than the speed of inside axel so it does not bind.

If you have a PreRunner w/o the off-road package, regarless of the engine size it will have the so called "8.4" rear end. So the LSD will work for your rear end. If you want to get technical, your rear really isnt an 8.4 inch rear but is refered to as one because it is beefier then the original 8" rear that toyota offered.

Forgive me for getting on my soap box again lol, I think Say this monthly, while you shop for your all terrain tires, look for ones with the mountain/snowflake. It wont be a pure snow tire, but they are about as good. Since you're in the gorge you can try Les schwab, but Goodyear,General, and a few others have a tire like that in their line up. Once you tried an A.T. tire extreme weather rated, in the snow you'll know you did the right thing

Do all PreRunner TRD Offroad Tacos have LSD? I had an 02 TRD w/ a button for the locking differential, but I dont have on my 07. Man, I feel stupid. I got to know if I have something, b/c I have no button for anything. Surely I have something that kicks-in automatic in slick road situations, right?

Yeah I am going to schwab. I think I am getting wild country xtx sport. they rated for snow. they look good but not my first choice they are just conv. I dont want to buy online it will just end up costing more in the end plus i dont want to have to deal with the tire presure sensing stuff. I contacted some one about powertrax no slip traction system. they want $427 for the model for my truck. LSD is great on snow but if I am going to pay for something I want more than one use for it. I wouldnt mind the ARB but it seems complicated to install and expensive. I dont think I will have a problem with installing powertrax no drilling or anything.

I do believe from everything i have read you do have a LSD if you do not have a ELD. one way to check is see if you have a sticker on your axil that says something like LSD fluid only

how much do shops charge to install an arb for the labor only? how much to change out a gear set at the same time. How much to change out a gearset by itself?

I have done a lot of research and I am going to get a Detroit Truetrac. It seems to be the best option unless you can get a hold of a TRD locking axel for cheap. Allthough it is limited slip and not a locker I am really impressed with the "locking" ability and drivability. I still think manual locking is the best but it is way to expensive. auto locking is nice but I dont want to worry about my street driving at all because that is what I will be doing most. With the Truetrack I should be able to get near the max traction off road a 2 wheel drive can get anyway. Thanks for everyones input I really appreciate it!
