I can't believe I am being talked into repairing a 22 yr old Civic with no A/C and a broken sunroof. And no drinkholder. And the worst peeling red paint ever. And a duct taped driver's seat, to keep the foam inside it from spilling out.

OMG. WTF are you guys doing to me here?????????????????????????????????????????????? We are not wealthy, but good grief we are not this poor guys!! Why can't we let it go?????????????????:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I can't let Eric log onto TW. Ever. Again.

Jen, run the numbers, honda civic parts are cheap...I am keeping the 99 accord with 150k miles on the road for my daughter. It really beats a loan for a used truck.

Meanwhile, I am still running the 68 dodge pickup I put a motor in a decade ago...

Yes, what you are saying is very true. BUT. I do not like the car. I have not ever really liked the car, it was a practical purchase. And seventeen years later, I am ready to spend a little and enjoy whatever our second vehicle is, instead of continuing to milk every damn penny out of the Civic by dumping more into it. Hell, Honda started paying us ~10 years back every time we started the fucking thing!!! :rofl:Saying we've already gotten our money's worth is a SEVERE understatement!!

Damnit. You guys and Eric think just alike. This sucks. :angrygirl:

Have always had three. The black one lives in the garage, the white ones get used when I feel like it.

It one of those his, hers and ours thing.

Are you sure that 4 runner is 4 x 4? They did come in 2 wheel drive. That would be a deal killer for me.

I really like third gen runners but the later models with the fat front bumper and those running boards deff need to go! Those later models have those big fender flares too. Nothing wrong with them, just pointing it out. Have to go plate bumper and running boardless.

I knew someone was gonna notice that!

I built the bumper myself with intentions of putting a winch behind it. I had the farelead sitting in my scrap pile and just tossed it in there because the bumper looked wrong without something in the middle.

It's actually off of a 1.5k harbor freight winch. Don't judge me. I got $90 in steel to build the bumper. My wife and I both like it and no one else has one like it. In for the win.

I wasn't hating on it, it does look better to have something there. That bumper turned out nice I think. I run ARB's on my trucks so I think your "based off of" design is nice.

The lady told Eric it was. Hopefully that is true!!

So if I understand right, @bry838 is saying the fat bumper and side running boards are what makes that 4 Runner look goofy/low clearance to me, right? And that the running boards can be removed, right?

So how much to replace the bumper? How does one go about that? Can you build us a new bumper K?

I wasn't really implying the low clearance thing, I was more just thinking out loud about what I would do with it. Those boards should be able to come right off there.

It looks lower to the ground to me than other 4Runners though, so I'm trying to figure out if it's in my head or if it's the running boards or what. Help!!

Yeah I keep looking at it too but I do think its the fatter flares, bumper and massive boards that give it the granny look. Over others you have surly looked at.

Actually, thinking about it, what we really care about is just having enough clearance to get over the same crap we could in the Taco. So am I imagining it, or does this thing sit lower than a Taco, and other 4Runners too?

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm pizza in the oven, pie for dessert :hungry::hungry:

Yeah, it looks like a very well kept, wealthy people owned, never off roaded, 4 Runner. PERFECT. :D If this works out, it's life will now get slightly more exciting :D :burnrubber:
