    Hi folks,

I have a worn out second set of tires on my 2009 TRD OR. I can buy a guy's brand new 17" OEM sport wheels with tires off a 2014 model for a good price. They do not include TPMS. Is there any problem or computer issues with going from the 16" wheel setup to the stock 17" wheel/tire setup found on the TRD sport?

I will have to move my TPMS units from my wheels to the replacements.

The TPMS has a reset so once you have the whole tires set up with the TPMS you just follow the manual and reset the new amount and you should be good.

what is the "new amount" I am resetting? Are you talking about setting a pressure?

Thanks. If that's all it is, why do the people going from steel wheels to aluminum have to get a different TPMS unit?

Now your talking about the angle of the TPMS. When I got my MT Classic 3's I had to buy a whole new set because of the stem angles. With new TPMS sensors the computer needs the new ID numbers for the sensors. This is done through the OBD2 port.

Ok, so are our Tacomas equipped with a direct TPMS sensor as opposed to the indirect type that measure wheel speed and compare that to the computer in the truck?

    Thanks for the info!

There are 5 wireless sensors for the TPMS so never forget about your spare
