I will also add a stolen/recovered vehicle will have a salvage title regardless if it has damage or not.

Sorry for delayed Update. they straightened the alignment. parts and service was nice. still let them know i wasn't happy with the sale.

left 1 star rating on facebook, "Sold me a wrecked truck. Appeared on carfax after 6 months. Passed through certification they say and i'm out thousands for diminished value. Yet setting appointments to continue to fix alignments. Can't recommend."

Manager response: "Alex, At Red McCombs Toyota, our goal is to provide excellent customer service to all our customers and we are sorry that your experience wasn't matching your expectations. I was informed that our Service and pre-owned department are work with you and hopefully we can make everything right. Feel free to contact me at mhansson@redmac.net if you have any questions or concerns. /Martin Hansson, Marketing Assistant"

My response:I was told I was out of luck on diminished value by your people. You contact me if you want to make my experience better...

    That was June 11th

Looks like the old Triple D. Delay Deny Die. If you don't push them, they will claim that they provided everything you asked for. If you feel they owe you money for the diminished value, then post that info to the manager. He will then be forced to reply with a counter offer or denial. That info can then be posted all over the Internet. If you don't they will just wait you out.
Facebook is a good start, but also hit Google reviews, Dealer Reviews, Yahoo reviews, Edmunds and any other site you find. I usually google "Name of Dealership reviews" and then hit the sites where I find other reviews. If there are zero reviews, that site is not frequently used.
It helps to type out a really well organized review listing your issues, and then copy that to all the review sites. Saves time and makes it consistent.

So you paid more for this used truck than it sold for new. HMMM. Then you find out that it has been wrecked and no one told you about it. HMMM. We have all made rash choices. Learn from this. Always do vin checks and do not want something so much that you are open to being taken. This is a hard lesson, but we have all been had at some point. The real issue if will we learn from it?

Well.... I just read the entire thread.

One thing I always say about vehicles... they are worth every penny a potential owner is willing to pay! If My Taco cost me 20K out the door, and you got the same model for a few K more, or less... we all got the "DEAL" we felt good about.

If you are willing to buy ANYTHING used, no matter what, BUYER BEWARE.

The big thing about late model used vehicles... if you are not paying cash, terms are generally better enough new vs used to get you into new, for the same or less per mos.

To the OP, it's been a great thread... but you still never put in writing what you wanted... you just wanted something to make you feel better. Luckily, you like your truck, and for good reason. Keep it till it isn't worth fixing, and the diminished value will be non-existent.

I had someone offer me 13K for my 2005 Pre-Runner with 136K on it just a few days ago. I'm the original owner, and although I think that's a FEW G's more than she's worth on paper, she's also not for sale.

To use another's analogy, you had a swing and a miss. Step up, pant your feet, mod the fuck out of it, and you'll have a home trophy you can drive every day!!!

OP, I hate to say this, but you are screwed. I looked up your dealer on Yelp ( and read your complaint there as well) but your complaint will be lost in the litany of other bad reviews that are posted, and that's just on Yelp! They seem pretty indifferent to any negative reviews and I hate to say it, but I'll bet that any Internet commentary you make will be cheerfully ignored. As a side note, read the reviews for their associated Ford dealership, they have a cumulative one star rating. (Wow! You have to try hard to be that bad! )

Sounds like old Red has ZERO interest in "making it right" for anyone for any reason. Since it seems like you don't have a legal case against them(I'm not a lawyer, can't say for sure! ), and they are IMHO extremely unlikely to do anything, I'd say just chalk it up to an expensive lesson, consider yourself fortunate the truck has only minor damage, and just enjoy it for what it is. I know, easier said than done. :(

Oh, and never go there again. For any reason. E V E R.

    My last $0.02. :)

Yea not worried about it anymore and they certainly aren't. I'll keep it and hand it down to my son if it lasts 4 years. I'll take the advice here and mod the fuck out of it  and keep it forever so diminished value will mean very little in the life of the truck.

Speaking of, I haven't posted a pic of her this entire thread :)

Can anyone explain why Yelp dumps a whole bunch of the 1 star reviews into the "not recommended" category (that includes yours, OP), and "The reviews below are not factored into the business's overall star rating" (yelp's words).

Is it that yelp is so busy sucking advertiser's **** that they don't want to be taken seriously?

Hate to come to the party late but even New vehicles might have been damaged and still sold as new beauties. Test drives, hauler mishaps and lot porters plus the sales guys who "borrow" new cars for quick trips. My son owns a fairly large body shop and he has brand new damaged cars and trucks sitting on his lot in droves just waiting to get to the body and paint booth. The put everything back to original, no aftermarket and the computer matches the paint exactly, albeit since it's not a robot painting a true expert might see a slight imperfection. It's just a small chance but a reality that you might end up with a fixed previously damaged car/ truck. With that said I don't believe they straighten frames then claim new but I saw a damn near totalled Nissan Titan with a 40k sticker on it that was going back to be sold as new. Wish I took a picture to sell you guys on this reality. Sorry OP>
