Hey Everyone, I'm new-ish to the forum but love it so far. I've got a rattle coming from one of the lower pulleys, either the A/C pulley or the lower idler pulley (#1) I believe. It happens only on startup once the idle settles down to normal idle or once in a while when I'm at a stoplight. It's pretty audible, even moreso with the hood popped. It starts rattling for a few seconds and then stops. Sounds like there's a piece of plastic bouncing around in there or something. The A/C works fine and I just had the dealership put a new timing chain and all the associated gears and stuff. If i start the truck without the A/C on, I hear a quick rattle for maybe half a second and then it goes away. Once the A/C is on, its the same rattle but for about 6 or 7 seconds then it goes away. I can't figure out if its the engine resonance thats causing it at a certain rpm or if it's A/C associated. A bearing maybe? Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks and Fly Navy

Id replace the idler pullies all at once and replace your main belt as well. Its cheap and likely fix the problem (idlers are a known quick wear item on these trucks)

Sounds like a plan thanks a lot! I gave the upper and lower idlers a tug and there's no play in them that I can feel. Would it still click anyway? and any idea what sound it would make if it was A/C related? I'm new to tacomas. My old jeep didnt have A/C and it was a '98. Things are newer and alot more plastic these days. My taco has 186K on it even though its only an '08. All hwy miles, not sure if that helps narrow anything down.
