Never seen it. Have heard all sorts of references to it, just never got around to it. The fact that I don't have a TV probably doesn't help.

Tv in the camper. We had a TV in the living room for a while. It died recently, we both don't really miss it. We cut cable 3 years ago. We stay plenty busy and I lost 10 pounds as well.

all cable does is cost $100 a month for 60 extra channels of crap not even worth watching.

regular antennas are 100% free all the time and I still have 34 channels to watch. with cable we had 70 channels, of which I only watch on average 6-7 of them, with no cable I have 34 channels and I watch on average 9-10 of them.

all I miss not having are the movie networks like A&E, AMC, FX, and also nat geo, and espn for football season

No cable here for years!! Antenna Eric installed gets us basic channels, and our awesome county library system provides us with more movies (even new releases!) and TV series than we could ever hope to watch - for free!! When top favorite shows release a new season, or when a movie we really want to see comes out, and we don't feel like waiting for the library to get it, we order through Amazon. We barely spend anything on TV/movies overall, yet we are always watching whatever we want it seems! Works pretty well. :) LOVE our local libraries, best bang for our tax bucks IMO (along with awesome local parks!) :)

Do you guys know how much a bumper would be for that 4 Runner? Is it something we can do ourselves?

Keep an eye on the used parts section. Can be found around $300 or so, new is gonna be bumping a grand for anything decent.

I don't see doing it yourself. They are a lot of work. Ask me how I know.

its a bumper, of course its easy to change

you may want to join this group they have parting out parts trucks advertised there

by the way, people put 4runner bumpers on tacos so taco bumpers would fit 4runers too so if your looking for a which bumper keep that in mind

We talked to the 4Runner guy. I was misinformed on a few of the details. It has 120K, and a handful of minor flaws, like the power driver's seat is broken or something, a bulb with the thermostat that is crazy expensive to replace is toast, and the sunroof makes a noise (meaning even though he said it works, we might never use it - it's super crazy expensive to fix, and you don't take chances on sunroofs in Oregon unless you have thousands to flush on a moments notice when it suddenly stops closing right :rain:). Also, he is the 3rd owner. He bought it at 30K, and get this - before that, it was a loaner vehicle at a Toyota dealer. Kind of concerning when you imagine the abuse it may have taken, and yet kind of a positive because you'd think it was super well maintained mechanically if they lent it to customers! He had the timing belt and water pump done, and said there's nothing else wrong with it besides that stuff I mentioned. He's asking $8700. We'd take those running boards off, and probably want different tires and bumper eventually, and I'm curious how the shocks will be when we test drive. He seems like a really nice, honest guy, and it still sounds like something that could work for us. My biggest disappointment is hearing the miles are 120K instead of 100K like I'd first heard. But still, the price seems pretty fair, or at least in the ballpark of fair, vs. a lot of times the prices are ridiculous  on these things. He was totally open to us having it looked at by the tech of our choice :D and of course we'd test drive it first to be sure we were definitely into it. He's not in a huge hurry to sell it, because he wants to find the right car to replace it with before letting it go.

Then we go back full circle to wanting to have a commuter car too. At the moment, after a serious discussion :argue: and a few beers :drunk:, we are leaning towards:

Buy this thing (maybe try to get the price down some, especially pending inspection by a certain tech!) AND fix the Civ!!!!!!!!!!! This way we can still reap the MPG benefits in a commuter car, and add a sort of "taco back up" to hopefully prolong the Taco's life and give us the advantage of choosing between a sweet SUV or the Taco for the fun stuff!!

    Whatdyall think?????????????? :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Biggest down side I see is paying insurance on 3 cars. But the Civic insurance is basically pennies, and the Taco isn't bad either, so I suspect the gas savings of keeping a 3rd car for commuting would outweigh the 3rd car insurance expense. Plus decreasing the wear and tear on the Taco & 4Runner by having a 3rd for commuting only - that seems very worthwhile, since parts are so cheap for a commuter vs. a Toyota truck/SUV.

It has 120K, big wupty do 120k is nothing for an 02 truck, that's 120k x 13 years = less then 10k miles per year, that's nothing.
handful of minor flaws, just like every used vehicle does

the power driver's seat is broken or something, we can fix it
a bulb with the thermostat that is crazy expensive to replace is toast, we can figure that stuff out later
the sunroof makes a noise (it's super crazy expensive to fix,:rain:). most likely the gears and tracks need cleaning and grease to work like new again
he is the 3rd owner. He bought it at 30K, and it was a loaner vehicle at a Toyota dealer. everything cant be a one owner, that's expecting too much
He had the timing belt and water pump done, and said there's nothing else wrong with it besides that stuff I mentioned. sounds like he took care of it

He's asking $8700. crazy low price, you know that because you see what they are selling for

it sounds like just normal routine stuff with any used vehicle and others like it in equal or worse condition are selling for $4k more then he is asking

I say screw risking pissing him off, just buy the damn thing fast before he realizes its worth thousands more then he is asking for it.

tell him he can have the civic to drive while he shops for the new car

Thanks for the advice Keakar!!! I agree, I think we might wanna pounce on this one!! Funny thing is, he's had it serviced at the dealer that bailed us out of the disaster with the Taco, so it almost seems meant to be!! : ) Wonder if noahpete ever worked on it?!?! Might ask him to look at it for us pending how test drive goes.....

If we had the Taco AND this 4Runner to distribute the "fun" driving among, we could probably keep it to ~5K per vehicle per year, especially if we held on to a commuter car too. Then we could really stretch the life on the Runner & Taco at that rate!!! :)

I suspect he'd decline that generous offer of swapping the Civic for the Runner while he car shops!! Although I'd sure be OK with that plan!!

try telling him you want to do the deal as quick as possible because the civic may die any day and you don't want to be stuck on the side of the road.

this puts in his mind you want him to hurry up and do the deal but it doesn't say your desperate, although he already set the price so it shouldn't matter anymore.

I just think you need a "nice" way to get the message across to him that while he isn't in any hurry, you are

Hi there peeps. I am in the center of Montana with an issue developing: twice today my clutch pedal stayed on the floor. I pulled it up by hooking my toes under it and it worked normally until it happened again. Thoughts?

I suppose I could post this elsewhere but I like (and respect) our little Lovemytacolots community so ... I went here first.

maybe the pedal washer is worn and sticking, they often have nylon washers that need replacing. just need to separate the question, is it the lever or the cable and see which is sticking. with the petal stuck see if disconnecting the cable from the clutch pedal releases it, if so then unhook the other end to the clutch. its just eliminating each part to see which is sticking and why

I think you better give $50 to keep it from being sold out from under you. I don't care how nice someone is, the
first person to get the money together gets the item. Any amount of money put down, makes you the first buyer weather someone else has all money in hand. Lock it down!
