I have Dakars and love them, however I don't think Mom and Dad who just bought a 40k truck will like them. They make the truck handle and sound like a work truck. Stiff and squeaky.

I think in their case the air bags might be the better option.

If you do go Dakars, I'd remove a leaf, and at the same time tear the packs apart and install full length leaf isolators (such as these).

buddy got nearly 4in of lift from the stock 2+1 leaf pack on his TXpro with the 3+1 thats on the sport you are going to get 3 in. My wheelers single 2in aal spans A LOT of the actual leaf pack which makes it pretty nice... rides a SHIT ton smoother than the dakars that were on my buddies truck .

Nope, thats their 22inch long 1.5in AAL (which is about the length of most progressive AAL packs)

    I run the 32inch long 2inch AAL
Like stated he was on a 2+1 stock leaf pack from a 2011 tx pro... super saggy from the factory, a 3+1 stock leaf pack sits about an inch higher than the 2+1 so the ~ 3in of lift most people get when going from a 3+1 to the dakars is the same as getting 4in of lift from the 2+1 pack.

Assuming you got 2" above stock, did you have to get extended brake lines, or install anything extra to accomodate the 2"?

How long have you had them?

Nope no need to extend the brake lines, I did bend the brake line bracket slightly on the axle to angle the lines up a smidge more, But at full drop the lines are not too taught even with my OME N182's which have ~ an inch more extension than a 5100 rear shock.

Had them for ~ a year now, love them. Increased the load handeling without squat just right, and rides very nice.

yes i did..... he did the dakar leaf pack. And i can tell you with 100% certainty that the 2+1 stock leaf packs sit from the factory an inch lower than the 3+1 leaf pack from the factory.... i had the dealer replace the original 2+1 with a 3+1 on my 2013 as it sagged WAY WAY to much.

That's good to hear. I haven't heard a lot of love for the AAL's

Ideally I'd like to get to 1-1.5" above the front. At the moment it's dead level.

Do you think the length difference between the 1.5", and 2" will make a noticeable difference in the ride?

If you don't want a lot of lift go with the progressive AAL pack over a single AAL

.... ugh... MY BRAND NEW 2013 TRD OR 4x4 .... came with the 2+1 factory leaf pack (when i purchased it in november of 2013). one month after buying it i had the dealer replace the pack with a 3+1 leaf pack.... the original pack did NOT have time to get weaker from age. Before and after measurements were right at one inch higher with the 3+1.... hell you could go to any lot before october of 2013 (due to the fact in November of 2013 toyota started making ALL 6 lug tacos with the 3+1 leaf packs) and look at a TRD off road (which came stock with a 2+1) parked RIGHT NEXT to a TRD SPORT (which came with a 3+1) and see that the sport sat higher in the rear.

@Fitz235 the 2in single AAL will ride better than the 1.5in single as the 1.5in single is SO much shoter (10 inches in length). A 3 leaf progressive AAL will ride softer than the 2in single BUT you will not gain much load handling
