    Yup, been there.

The kids who jump into that quarry are insane. Can't even imagine how deep that is or what's there to hit (cables or whatever else).

In Becket? There are several if I remember correctly.

At Camp Lenore? There was a mid to late 50s Ford Station wagon near the water tower, but it's goone now.

i went to the camp today. I found the water tower. Very cool, and tempting to climb. I saw the tennis court, but getting to it would have involved trudging through probably 40 yards of waist high goldenrod. The mosquitos were relentless:annoyed:. We also stopped and checked out the house on the main road right by creamery street. Its pretty far gone, but interesting. There is an old carnival attraction in the backyard. Its a big box with a handcrank on it, and a clown that must pop out of it. There was also a dollar bill stuck inside a crack on the porch floor, sticking straight up. Strange, we didn't touch it.

That's the Stritch house. Local artist. He used to do sculpture there. I can't remember if he's still alive or not.

How far did you drive down there? I usually turned around at the water tower. I think I went a little further once, but I don't really off road my truck so it starts to get to the point where I would rather not be there.

    Well, that answers that: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/berkshire/obituary.aspx?pid=171363414

He was living there when I was a kid. The house was in good shape then and had many sculptures out in the yard.

i parked right in the beginning, it was very grown in. On my phones navigation satellite, just south down the road from the tower, i see what looks like a vehicle in the woods. I didn't walk down that way, so cant confirm. Is this the vehicle you mentioned? Or another one? I know the images on satellite are a bit dated. But not too old.

Yes. That was the 50s Ford. Last time I went that far it was gone. Someone must have taken it out of there.

so that was fairly recent then. I think the map images are only a few months old.

Actually, now that I look at it that might be something different. The Ford was West of the water tower. Probably a two minute walk away.

I think I see what you are talking about in Google Earth. I've never gone south of that tower. Just west and followed the trail which eventually goes south.

I'm trying to get my head around directions. Maybe the Ford was south. The trails look a little different from how I remember them turning, but I haven't been back there in a while.

I keep meaning to go find that abandoned cemetery near the high tension wires in Windsor/Hinsdale too. Just haven't had the time to go out that way.

That's something else. The Ford wasn't that far into the woods. It was actually almost resting in the trail.

The cemetery I'm trying to find again is tough. Both ends of that road were driveable years ago and the imagery still looks good, but there is a brook that you can't cross. I'm trying to see if I can see which side it's on, but I can't tell at all. It's actually a fairly short road, but it takes time to get to the other end if you're wrong about the first time.
