So this is my fist post here. I'm new to this so bear with me.
First off my 2011 Tacoma has been sitting for most of the past 13 months.

For the past few days that I've been driving it it's been all aces. Put about 20 bucks since I started driving it again. Today I ran out of gas... So I'm assuming.. The engine turns over but doesn't start. The steering wheel got hard to turn and the battery, oil and another few lights came up. Thing is that the low fuel light didn't even come up? Did I run out of gas or is this some kind of electrical problem? Maybe the starter?

Not trying to hi jack this thread but how low to you have to run fuel before the low fuel light comes on? So far mine has not come on but has not ran out of fuel either.

No I didn't. Maybe that was my screw up? I'm also thinking the light didn't come on because the tank or fuel lines migjt have some build up in it?

No worries holeshot... That's the exact problem I just had. My low fuel light didn't come on and I just ran out of gas.

Mine comes on when there is about 4 gallons left. Did this just to see when it came on.

I'm going to put gas in it and throw some fuel system cleaner in it and see if it resolves the issue

My suggestion if you are going to put some gas in it, is to only put in at the most 5 gallons. You don't want to be messing with dropping that fuel tank fully filled if your fuel pump failed, which is a high possibility seeing that you ran the pump dry.

Power steering is from a pump driven my the engine. If you run out of gas the engine stops and the pump stops and you have no power steering.

There are vehicles with electronic power steering, but the Tacoma isn't one of those.

How much gas does the gauge show? Full, Empty or what???

Apparently you are correct. A review of my Fuelly account shows the most fuel required for a fill up so far was 17.3 gallons so I had 3.8 gal. left

The gauge was not reading empty.. It was about half a quarter till empty. Ok so I got some gas out in it turned on. I knew it was the gas! I emideatly went to auto zone and got some seafoam and dumped it in the gas tank. There must be a lot of build up in the tank from the truck sitting for so song. I'm going to wait a few more weeks and put another can of the stuff
