Taking a suggestion from @530Taco, I made another prototype at a lower angle. The original is at a 45 degree mount. The newer one is a 30 degree mount. Thoughts or preferences for either?

These being the prototypes, I was just using scraps I had in the garage. The end product would be all white. What other colors did you have in mind?

Oh, I would just make them black to blend in a bit with the bed liner. That is just personal preference and I don't care if they were purple and yellow. I need these! :D

they dont look as though they would work for a fly rod, if a design for those were made I 'd be in 100%

Tested 5 poles at up to about 83 mph. No issues, no vibration or rattling heard.

Wonder if these would work with the bed cover I have (access limited). Not sure if your design allows guys with certain bed covers to use this. Most of the covers, particularly the rollups, introduce new rails. From your pics it seems the new rails will interfere with the holder unfortunately.

PM me pics of your bed. I may be able to seat the holders lower to clear your cover.

Very nice I would purchase. I would also like them in black.

you know, you can buy the plastic rod tube part. already has the slot and flared end. most marine supply shops. west marine too I believe. And I've seen them in both black & white. I have a dozen or so in white I mounted to the wall in my garage to store rods in.

    going to be fun!
That is one of the greatest areas to fish in the Tampa Bay area if you can get across the west channel going to Cow and Calf key before the toll plaza Monster Snook and Redfish also over at the east end of Ft Desoto Park go out wade fishing in mullet key flats.....I grew up fishing Tampa Bay for 30 years from Safety Harbor to Passage Key...

I know MacDill had the area closed for sometime after 911 but if you can get up in the area SE of Picnic Island and Broad Creek huge trout....The only bad thing is that it is on the receiving end of the firearms range nothing like having lead fall from the sky when you are fishing....
