Oh not at all speed wise. They look very close, different adapters.

I've been looking at getting a new PC build going. Just haven't really found a need for more speed on my PC yet. I use my server more than my PC.

    I'm happy with my current build. Sabertooth Z97 M1 w/ 4790k @ 4.8GHz w/ 32GB RAM.

I need to update my storage though. My SSD is a Crucial M4 64GB, which isn't much faster than a decent WD Black drive. My other storage is just a few older WD drives in RAID0. I also have a Sandisk Ultra+ 64GB doing nothing. I could put both SSDs in raid. They have similar performance.

Going from the 5 to 6 was a great jump. This phone runs so much better. The huge battery is a plus as well. It's also not as huge after a few weeks of use. I purchased a nice case for it also.

In other news we are finally ordering in SSDs in our workstations!

    Dell 5810
    Quad core Zeon 3.4Ghz
    NVidia Quadro K4200 4GB
    32 GB RAM
    512 SSD

I was lucky and bought my 32G of RAM when I did. It cost me $99. Now that same kit is $250.

I had accidentaly ordered a second kit, and was willing to sell it for the $99, or split it in half for cheaper. No one was interested, and I returned it for a refund. If only I had known RAM prices were going to nearly triple a short time later...

Usually RAM prices don't climb so fast. Supposedly it's due to the manufactures focusing on mobile products now.

I forgot I had a few Samsung SSD's so I just loaded them in RAID 0 for my desktop. Amazing speed increase.

    True or false

Do SSDs have a write maximum?

Kinda. After time they burn out and have to be replaced. Consumer level users will never burn out an SSD from use. Hell I move WAY more data then the avg users and I'm still ok on my SSD's.

The company I used to work for does media scanning, moving 100,000's of files a day through SSD's and they are burning them out in 6-12 months.

So its depending on how much you use ti and how you use it, as well as the drive itself. I'd tell people not to worry about it.

Since SSDs are gaining more capacity, it will take even longer to go through all of the write cycles. You could write petabytes of data to them before they're dead.

My Crucial M4 64GB has 33231 of hours on it, and only 5% of it's life has been used.

Petabytes is a bit of an overstatement, Samsung's EVO drives are rated for less than 100TB of write and the PRO drives are around 300TB. It's still a solid 5-10 years of daily use though.
