Because people always want more. An electric cig light for their vapes, a tampon holder, seats that massage your ass. No vehicle will ever be perfect for some people. Some taco owners included :spy:

Could the same function not be done with one device for the sake of simplicity? Unisex items are all the rage right now.

Apparently if you're not for equality then you're politically wrong. Apparently.

Is building shit a manufacture/culture problem?

I don't understand how certain manufactures can produce a full product line (example Toyota/Lexus/Scion for US) with vehicles equipped from bare bones to massaging/reclining/foot rested seat and remain problem free and others can't make a steering box. The reasons driving the recall & or rebuy on the Fiat product isn't even a new tech...it's basic shit that all vehicles have...

So what's TW'ers speculation on what this will do to resale value on full size trucks in general? I mean will Ford, Toyota & GM see a spike in the price of full size used trucks even though new models already have decent size rebates? Will the U.S. named used Fiat full size truck offerings dip in price only to rise when the used market starts drying up?

The 4th largest auto recall ever was Toyota and it was larger than this one. Before this, Honda had the largest fine ever imposed. Shit happens... but it looks like Fiat Chrystler screwed this one up at the management level. It's bad for the industry and bad for consumers.

    Airbags or "unintended" acceleration or???

Tho my comments, as seemingly some of the others, were aimed at product quality in general not specifically recall tho certainly recalls and quality do go together.

I guess raw numbers aren't as much a measurement in my view as what the recall is for...

Exploding fuel tanks...check (even tho meeting government regs was a known problem for years & with other manufactures being handed their asses for the same thing)

    Failure of a steering rack...check

Floor matts "too big & unsecured" and "accelerator too long" with drivers not able to shut it off, take it out of gear or....uncheck
