I'm sure it's possible to go bigger, but I had in mind to build this for guys like me who have tighter budgets, who need a winch, and don't necessarily want the full blown replacement offroad bumper. There is a lot of room vertically and offsets could be adjusted to accommodate anything. But I really envisioned people wanting an undercover winch plate like this to throw a smittybilt, vr8000, m8000, etc. on have self recovery for under $600

I may be mistaken but the housing on the smitty should be the same as the m8000. Either way, there is enough room to fit it in there.

How did you go about prepping your flares for the Berliner? I have plans to do something similar.

I took each fender flare and gave each a good scrubs down, then I took the highest grit sandpaper in the house, which was something like 320, if I recall correctly, and very lightly and gentally scraped each on so I would just have a better surface to have the bed liner grip to. Then I wash them down again and let dry overnight. From there I taped off the rubber trimming on the front since the trimming didn't peal off. After that it's time to to move on to painting. The bed liner dries rather quickly, so I put 2 coats on in an hour and I let it dry and cure for the rest of the day... Maybe 12 hours or so... After that it's reascembally which isn't hard and is super straightforward.

If I can provide anymore details, please to ask for them. I'll be glad to provide anything I can.

it fades pretty quick so you may have to re apply every few months to keep the dark color.

I've heard about this too. Since it's my first time doing it, I'll see how long it last and then figure out when I should reapply. Preferably it would be once a year, but if I have to recoat every 6 or so months, then it won't be the worst. My truck never sees the garage so it'll probably fade a bit faster then what's expected.

6 months would be ok, my bed sides and front fenders faded quick as shit.

Compared to the Magic Eraser method or the heat fun method which last like a week or so... 6 months will be a huge improvement.

Anyone know how much a 98-00 frame needs to be cut for an aftermarket bumper, I've heard 2", 2 3/8" and 3"

Easier to cut a little and test fit, just enough to remove the caps. When I put on my elite there's a line you can follow, once you get down to the frame you'll see what I'm talking about. I'd cut and test fit though because I didn't and my bunkers sits tilted a little
