    "Roughing the soil up" I'm pretty sure he can do, "a little bit" not so much. "Tamping" is probably beyond him. If it doesn't cause craters, he's not going to be able to do it. :D

    I've heard that infrequent, deep waters encourage deep root penetration but this is for sod. I'm not sure about seeds.
