The Colorado will be available in diesel

Gm has announced the Colorado will be available this fall with diesel approx 3700 dollars more. If anyone cares.

 

$3700 premium ... that can buy a lot of gas.

 

Everybody has a huge boner for diesels. I fail to see the point.

From an economy standpoint, it's a wash between diesel and gas.

Diesel doesn't get up and go like a gas engine.

If I needed the torque of a diesel for towing, I wouldn't be driving a Tacoma.

 

I think diesels are def boner worthy...

 

The sound of being able to make your own gas doesn't interest you at all? That's a lot of the reason why people have stiffy's for diesels.

 

No, not at all.

 

That tow rating though, for a midsize truck...not bad. I can't say I'd turn down the extra torque in my Tacoma.

 

Fryer oil option is appealing (I have access to oil). I poured $3500 worth of gas into the Taco last year alone.

 

And this is why we can't have nice things.

 

If I had to have a diesel in a Tacoma, I'd want a straight six, not some little four banger.

 

If dudes like diesel so be it. But financially for 95% of the driving public it doesnt make sense.The amount you would have to drive to compensate for the $3700 price premium is looonggg and the breakeven is measured in years, yes years.

 

But, as you see, those of us who are the exception to the rule can recoup that in just over a year. Also, the Taco is almost the perfect vehicle for the way I operate my forestry/ tree service.

Just playing devil's advocate mostly, but I use the Taco 95% of the time and the Cumminst 3500 very rarely.

 

Torque is what gives you the get up and go.

Diesel is cheaper out here.

If all other things were equal, I'd rather the extra tq, better mileage and cheaper gas. Thats just me though.

Anyways, guys that buy diesels dont buy them for the mpg arguement, manly because its not there. They buy them for the increased torque and to say they have a diesel!

 

Here in Houston, if you don't roll coal, you aren't impressing anyone
