I drive about 18,000 miles a year. I have been wanting to get a Four Wheel Camper, the oil burner Colorado seems like it would fit the bill perfectly. Be able to yank it around with little effort and good fuel consumption on top of that. Tacos get about 14-17 loaded down. Willing to bet the the GM will get around 25.

I run 91 octane in all my vehicles...diesel is cheaper here, it is looking like you can get the Chevy for under $35K, might have to give up some creature comforts for the same priced Tacoma...but the torque, mpg, and payload are more important to me. That and you get a lot of creature comforts in the LT GM anyways, more than I need.

It will be nice as long as it's reliable and it doesn't drop to -20 below on a deer hunt in the middle of nowhere

I do wish the Tacoma was offered with an I4 turbo diesel. The mileage would improve...maybe the towing capacity, as well. I would buy a Tacoma diesel...but not that Chevy.

I wouldn't purchase a GM product either, but you have to give them credit for pushing the envelope, (hate to say it, but it is pretty nice looking

I got to look at one over the weekend also, They do look nice , but I'd rather have quality over looks. With Tacoma , I get both.

One advantage, it's harder to set diesel on fire.

Which is actually a disadvantage because after your GM/Chevy leaves you stranded on the road for the umpteenth time, the repair bills start to mount and you are scared to drive it because of the weekly recalls indicate your truck might explode without notice then you are going to want to light it on fire by dousing it in diesel or lighting a rag placed in the fuel filler door.

Funny. Toyotas have left my family stranded more than GM. It's a POS GM Duramax diesel that towed back a 99 Landcruiser 750 miles away from home. In summer, 5 people, and all the gear too.

Unless that Engine is made by FIAT or Renault or Citroen its going to be good diesel. Its very hard to screw up diesel. On the end they all run much longer than any gasoline engine. Resale value its always gogi nto be higher because there is lways somebody willing to swap that into something else.
Heck if that Colorado does not work out, remove all the emissions and turn that thing into backup electric generator.

I live in Washington where diesel emissions BS isn't needed. Shops around here remove that trash from the big rigs and get more power and mpgs. I wouldnt be surprised if people remove the emissions system within a few thousand miles of buying it.

Plenty of pre 2007 diesels running around and all of them are destroying the environment huh? Gas and diesel cars and trucks are getting more and more efficient and putting out less pollution. All this diesel after treatment non-sense was not needed. The Earth is not going to cave in on itself because a diesel motor doesn't have after treatment.

As of right now, the most pathetic and ass backward, idiotic thinking State in the union doesn't see it as an issue and doesn't test emissions of any kind on any 2007+ diesel vehicle. Maybe they should change their ways.

Same in Michigan, we don't have Emissions or safety test, I'm willing to bet we'll see a lot of Diezzzeeel ColoRAYdo #brodozers making 500hp/1000tq in the near future.

When you tear the emissions crap out of new trucks you usually have to chip them or they will throw all sorts of codes which will trigger limp mode. Once it's chipped your warranty is shot. I'd think twice before taking the emissions equipment off a new truck with a powerplant that's worth a few k in just the injectors alone.

Abso-fucking-lutely.....that engine has been in use overseas for over 4 years. It's a proven engine and it's a great one.
