Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
The new addition to the family, 3 year old Alaskan Malamute Aspen. She is helping fill the void our old Hank left unexpectantly last spring. We went and picked her up in Columbia Falls Sunday. 677 miles round trip to bring this sweet baby home. We love her to bits and pieces already! Here she is on the trip back riding in my Tacoma.

Hey guys, I need to get my lab pup on some flea/tick and heartworm medicine. He's 14 wks old.

My vet is pushing trifexis, which is the 3 way pill that covers fleas, heartworm, and intestinal parasites for $22/month. She recommends it, but I've heard and read some horror stories about it - killing dogs and causing other serious issues. Anyone have experience with trifexis? If you don't use it, what do you use for fleas and heartworm meds?

    Thanks

I use heartguard for heart worm. Fleas aren't really an issue where I live so I don't use anything for fleas.

Trifexis works great. We switched 2 years ago after we got over run with fleas on 2 other medicines. Never had an issue since

K9 Advantix here. Working pretty well. It's a topical meaning you apply it around the base of the neck.
It's available OTC for around $80/6 months.

The disadvantage is it's on the dog's coat for a few days. So if your kids lick the dog, not a good idea. :D

Once we run out of Frontline is up we will probably switch to Nexgard. It's a new medicine that ticks/fleas aren't accustomed to, and the major reason is it's a chewable tablet. I'm kinda over topicals.

Only negatives are right now it's Rx only and it cost more than topicals (probably because it's new.)

I wish more of the stuff you need on a regular basis was OTC. Like ear meds-nothing like paying $60 for a couple of ounces. Or flea and tick stuff.

It's getting hot here in Southern California. :) Ruby's baby teeth started to fall out over the weekend. Freaked my daughter out a bit. She was playing with her toy and suddenly stopped and tried to eat something on the floor. I picked it up thinking it was paper or trash or something but it was a small tooth. Scouted the area and found a couple more.

Argh. My neighbor either adopted a new dog or watching someone else's dog and just locked the poor thing inside the garage with the door cracked about 2-3". The dog is miserable. He's been there since Sunday and every time I walked my dog all I see is his nose sticking out from under the garage door at all hours of day and night. Not to mention that these garages get extremely hot during the day. I just pointed an infrared thermometer at his garage door and it shows 97F.

Emailed him the photo and told him I will call Animal Control if he does not take better care of that poor dog. What the fuck is wrong with people???
