Get a stock paper filter or an AFE pro dry drop in filter
    Do regular maintenance
    Go 500,000 miles...
Performance on the other hand from what i know is limited to custom turbo setups and superchargers
But they put more strain on the engine

    First thing, Congrats..

    now the meat and potatoes.

Please replace the K&N filter with a stock Toyota filter.
Use anything but Royal purple in your trucks engine and gears. your wallet and truck will thank you.
Most folks run Mobile 1 in everything or amsoil.
Our trucks do not like royal purple and will have hard shifts ect.
Brake fluid typically will not need replaced unless major work is done to the system. Just fill to the line and you're good.
Bilstein is a great cheap minor upgrade over stock and thats pretty much it.
The coolant system does require proper Toyota fluid and it is a pink/red color., Do not use the off the shelf pre mix green stuff from the auto parts store.
While you're toolin around i recommend new dealer Spark plugs vehicle specific pre-gaped.
Check your serpentine belts and replace if needed.
Driveshafts do not leak so unsure what you mean, wheel seal at the drum brakes?
    Grease all of your u-joints.
check all vacuum lines for old age, cracks or leaks.

There's nothing wrong with a K&N filter. I've ran one for 124,000 miles and it's doing just fine. Never had any issues with the maf or anything else.

for a street truck thats cool, here in the desert area of offroading its a total no go.. they let too many small particles in and offer little to no performance gain.

The Toyota filter has been proven time and time again to be the best drop in for the stock box.

Thank you. I will return the oil (all unopened) and get Mobil 1. Ditch the K&N and go with stock. Check.

That's bullshit. The K&N filter was born in and for desert racing.

if you must run a cleanable filter, the AFE Pro S dry filter is amazing VS K&N as it requires no oil to function properly.

I have both so will text them out to see which I like. I was on the fence between Royal Purple and Mobil 1, and if that's true about RP knocking I will ditch it in favor of M1.

Ok cool well after a trip following a pack of trucks with a K&N filter VS Stock go ahead and tell me how your K&N filter did.. I wont run one for that reason alone.
Stock filters the best, K&N is an open flow design.
K&N was built for muscle cars originally.

I have used Royal Purple and it was so thin and slick that it shifted like crap.. Swapped it to Mobile 1 and has been great for 90k with regular changing of the fluids every 30k or so.

30k for transmission, transfer case, front diff and 10k for rear diff but 30k is fine if you drive nice.

So does anybody offer advice around here on products they have actually tried themselves? Or just because somebody else had a bad experien
Wow, you like to argue. And you couldn't be more wrong.
It was actually born in a motorcross race. The very first original K&N filter, before it even had a name was a cotton sock soaked in blood. It was needed because the paper filter was clogged and the race wasn't over. That bike with that sock won the race.
It was founded by Ken and Norm, owners of a large motorcycle race shop.

It's dusty here too. And mine is not a street truck. But feel free to keep giving information about products you haven't tried for yourself.

So controversy over K&N over stock. But we at least agree on Mobil 1.
