    On the road again. Next stop, alignments plus. Removed the sway bar also. Truck seems saggy in the front more than before....

    Nope. There isn't much difference. I spent a good portion of Friday at a transmission shop. I told him if this fails I'll go WC. He asked why and I told hin because of the added strength. He then informed me of the actual difference between the two. It's not much at all. They bearings and such don't equal a large gain in power handling capabilities. Still sub 300. I'll just have to be careful. Next transmission will be a TKO 5 speed

    Hey look you're on the subject of brakes in here. I was just going to post this from my build:

    Ok guys, well I knew my brakes were bad but holy crap! There's nothing left of the pad! At all... Like I see shiny metal :eek: Pretty sure I've got a warped rotor too cuz I shake a little slowing down. Soooo as much as I'd love to do an EBC or whatever brake system... I kinda need to take a more affordable route this time. Does anyone have any recommendations that doesn't break the bank before I just go buy some premium Napa pads and resurfacethe rotors? I'm don't go more than 80 in this thing... And I'm sureanything will feel awesome compared to now. I am going to be running big tires though soon anddamn am I heavy armored up...

    I would strongly suggest getting new rotors and not turning down the ones you have. I would also not risk putting chinese napa brake pads on my truck, and I have a roll cage. Napa starter or alternator? I might risk it in a pinch because if they fail I don't die.     Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
    From what I've seen online, it appears that the Callahan parts are identical to Powerstop. They may even be made by the same company and rebranded.

    The one thing that concerns me is that the pads are chamfered, which results in less surface to grab than non-chamfered. But, I figure I can always replace the pads later if I still feel like it's an issue after real world use...that's (relatively) easy enough.

    I can come up with that, part of the other reason was I want to finish everything by this weekend since I have the whole hub and suspension apart.
    I didn't even know Powerstop was a good brand, think I saw that rock auto....
    I did think slotted rotors would be over kill for me... My friend suggested not turning the Rotors but just buying economy rotors and Toyota pads so I don't squeel. Thoughts? Any other brands I should look for at like autozone or something? I always thought Napa was kind of the most quality auto parts store brands...

    you can buy the cheap stuff from napa, or the better stuff.

    a lot of the alternators/starters are remanufactured, but lifetime warranty.

    Normal rotors and stock pads would be fine too, it's just the price difference isn't much for much better quality and performance. Napa's expensive line of stuff isn't too bad, but it's certainly lower quality than Toyota OEM parts.

    I have had bad experiences with them, but you might not. I broke down in a firetruck (wildland) once and needed a new distributor. I got the "best" one Napa had to offer, installed it, and 20 miles later at the worst possible time the distributor drive gear stripped out and I was dead in the water. Another time I went through three lifetime warranty fuel pumps to get one that worked. Another time I went through four (4!) starters in as many weeks. I have more bad napa stories, but I'm sure they aren't as bad as the other parts houses. All that shit comes from china now anyway, lol.

    Well shit, napa's premium stuff new rotors (not slotted or anything just plain old rotors) and pads is $194. I've never heard of Powerstop but then again I don't know much about brakes. Think they're better? Cause I have Amazon prime and they sure look cooler for a better price too :laugh:

    That's what I'm running with porterfield carbon kevlar R4 pads. They will stop you faster than a clean sliding glass door. They seem to be made as well as OEM rotors.

    Yup. Those pads will be great for what you do, you'll be happy. Double check the part number though, sometimes Amazons "will it fit" system is janky.
