    TW,

Hey everyone. I just had the exhaust done on my 09 dbl cab, and, to be honest, it's not what I expected. I went with Magnaflow cat back. It's nice, and loud when in throttle, but it has the dying goat sound. I dunno, maybe i expected something along the lines of my Mustang V8. What is a good sounding exhaust for this truck, true duals, different can, what's your opinions?

thing is these trucks are v8's so its hard to get that true v8 sound. i have the flowmaster 40 series delta flow. it rumbles quite a bit, doesnt sound like a bumble be even at idle.

Yeah, it doesn't have that bumble bee sound that's for sure. Not ricey, I guess I was just expecting a little lope. At highway speeds, its fine, at idle, it's fine, but at throttle, say between 1-3k, it's a bit loud.

well i have a 4 banger i know your trucks are/sound different but i have a magnaflow on it at times it sounds a little ricy to me.

but i did realize something not sure if its just me but the other day i let me girl friend take my truck to help her dad move some stuff and i watched to drive away and my exhaust sounded totally different from out side it actually sounds mean as hell so i dont know try it out you may like it better how every one else hears it. :D

Get a V8 Tundra? Seriously, our trucks are V6's and if you were expecting a V8 sound, it aint gonna happen.

Yeah, I know it isn't going to sound like a V8. It's just what I'm used to. I'll let a friend drive it around the block tomorrow, and see what it sounds like outside the cab. It maybe totally different outside.

As everyone has stated you will not get the V8 rumble out of a V6. Now, if you had an inline six like the 4.0 Litre in the older Jeep Cherokees, Wranglers, etc. then you would get the V8 like rumble.

I have a Magnaflow muffler (stock piping) and it sounds great. I get compliments all the time.

BTW, you need to let it break in. It will get deeper over time.

Really? I was unaware of a break in for mufflers. How long does this break in normally take?

Just had a friend drive it around the block. Sounds damn good outside, just a little loud inside. But, I have the JBL system, won't be a problem. Thanks for the input everyone.

haha i knew you would like it from the out side i was the same way for a while when i just had my muffler it sounded really ricy to me but after the "breakin period" (which i think is true as well) it started to sound better and now that i have knn intake and DT header it sounds a lot deeper and alot better, people seem to like it alot its a head turner especially comin from a 4 banger

My friend put magnaflow's on his old trailblazer (i6), and proceeded to nickname it magnaBLOWS after having it for a week. If you closed your eyes you would've thought it was a Civic. He replaced it with 50 series flowmaster and was much happier. I agreed.

Yesterday I was driving home from work heading east on Main st. in Mesa and a dude in the same year Taco (had new temp plate on it) as mine but lifted with a dual exhaust, each pipe coming out each side.He pulled up next to me and tried to show off by gunning his engine and taking off........I laughed my ass off!It sounded like my wet/dry vac in my garage.Whatever pipe system this chump had sounded totally ghetto and more like a hopped up 4 banger and not a V6.All show and no go cause the dudes truck was slow.He ruined a brand new 2009/2010 dbl cab mag gray 4x4 Taco as far as i'm concerned. What a shame.

Why don't you have some custom cam's made if you want to hear the lope? You could probably add a tune, raise the rpms... I would DEFINITELY follow that thread...

I have a Flowmaster dual catback kit (50 series). It's a nice deep tone. Not a V8 sound...but definately better than the silence it was stock.

If you're inside the cab...yeah, it sounds ricey. It doesn't sound like that outside the cab.
