Precious metals are in them, like platinum.

It's pretty sweet when you come out of work and start up your truck and it sounds like a jet engine....

Happened to my 92 toyota pickup in my office parking lot during the day. Takes about 20 seconds with a sawzall.

By the time you realize what happened they've probably already turned it into crack.

Same happened to my 90 toyota pickup. For my current Tacoma I just lowered my deductible on comprehensive so I'm "protected".

I had/have a $1000 deductible so I had to pay it out of pocket. Good an aftermarket one and new exhaust/muffler with a turn down right after the axle for~$500

For the precious metals: platinum, etc.... Thieves steal it and sell it to local recycle places for easy money.

I would highly recommend not shooting some one laying under your truck but that's your choice.

Yea, i see what you mean. It will all depend if the thief will give up, or crawl out from under the truck while saying f---- you with a sawzall in his hand.

Lotta good a gun or 2nd amendment does when my truck is parked in a lot and I'm off on my snowmobile 100 miles away. Heard about it happening a lot up north. People come back at night and everyone is missing their cats. I think NH finally got a clue and it's now illegal for scrap yards to take them.

Never hear of this happening locally. But seriously, insurance is your only protection.

If it is on your property, in some states you can legally shoot them in the act of stealing. Probably have less legal problems if you just snuck up on them and smashed their knee in with a well placed baseball bat strike, then drag them out from under the car and say they tried to attack you and you defended yourself with non-lethal force. Your word against a thief.

it seems there are several types of cat theft deterrents...cat clamp ( http://www.catclamp.com/ ), cat strap ( http://catstrap.net/ ) and cut cuffs (cannot confirm if legit)...

im thinking of going car alarm instead with motion sensor. My comprehensive deductible isnt bad if this was to happen, but im hoping it doesnt grr

I'm liking this one if you can catch them. I haven't heard too much of it around here but I have heard about it. Also was instructed during CC course it's illegal to shoot someone just for stealing your property around here. Only for self defense. Better make your story up before shooting or the cops get there.

Putting a firearm sticker on the car (protected by smith and wesson, sig sauer, 2nd amendment, etc) is just plain STUPID. You are simply asking for your truck to be broken into. You are just advertising that there may be a gun locked in the truck. If you don't belive me, ask your local cops and see what they say.
