The 3 has a very sporty feel so it gets rave reviews in the first couple of K. After that though things go tits up. The funny part about the consumer report the dealer kept chucking at us was that the Mazda 3 was third. The Civic was first and the Hyundai Elantra was second. That's what actually motivated us to be brave and visit Hyundai. That dealer was awesome. The salesman was zero pressure and went through the car quickly pointing out what made it different from other cars without knocking his competition. The only reason we went to the Sonata was that the next weekend when my gf went to buy Hyundai had a Sonata clearance and the Elantra and Sonata were suddenly the same price for the same options. That made it a no brainier for her to step up to the midsized model.

Yup. Check out the Micra. If you don't mind the smaller cars it's a really good deal and even better on price. Ford Fiesta also hits that price point.

Edit: Nevermind, you guys don't get the Micra lol.

Also check out used Honda Fit's. The Honda fit feels bigger because Honda did a great job designing it. I'll give them props there.

Ugh, not a Liberty. Those things rattle themselves to death. I've never heard of one owner that had one and had a good review of it.

It looks like there's a dealer in Eugene, OR (only ~2 hrs south) that is selling a bunch of silver and white Nissan Versa's, like maybe they have overstock of those undesirable colors. Wow. That's cheap for a brand new commuter. Bet they are crazy good on gas.

Yup, personally I think she should get on lot and see some cars in person. Sorry to keep throwing out suggestions but I was hoping something would catch her eyes and get her on lot to see one. Then do a little research on what she likes.

Yup. I've seen Versa's at that price range. They are kind of slow, but if you don't mind that they are a great commuter/run around kind of car. Just always remember those prices may not include delivery of the vehicle or taxes. Those can be negotiated though.

No taxes in Oregon. And we'd pick it up :D

Not sure how tiny it actually is though. We should look at one locally to see........

Delivery charges are for delivery from the plant to your dealers location. Versa's aren't bad. Typical hatchback tiny. Keep in mind the S is going to be pretty bare bones too.

Bare bones as far as features would be fine for this car's purpose - commuting. But tiny depends on what Eric thinks.

Is that what second hand Yaris is going for? I know a few people that love theirs, but they are really really small even compared to the Versa. The Fit is the one car in that class that feels bigger.
