What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Ok well whatever it is, it's grimy as hell. Any contact cleaner in particular?

 

you can buy "electrical connector cleaner" at just about every autoparts store.

Did some fine tuning on the OBA, replaced ARB's splash filters with lines coming from the intake tube for cooler, drier and cleaner air. The unit is now completely sealed from the elements.

 

An interesting idea. I'm surprised your hood clears those. I'll bet its close. Did you have to do anything special to the underside of the hood?

 

Barely, had to trim one of the 90 degree plug to get it to sit lower. Moved the rubber bumper up a little, extremely close fit.

 

I kno. I toyed with standing my compressor on end and ultimately decided against it. Nice work.

 

Well that didn't do it. My issue is that my headlights turn on automatically without even turning it on the stalk. Once I go into gear it flips on. It's not my halos cause they don't turn on with the lights, the battery is new and everything else works fine.
I don't know if it's a bad ballast or whatever

 

Also it just started doing that today. I'm driving around like a jackass with my retros on, I noticed it cause I can see it in the reflection of people's cars.

So your issue is the daytime running light feature it sounds like

 

I guess so but I never had that feature. And I definitely don't like it.

 

Look up on here how to disable it and see if it fixes your issue

 

What irks me is on my old headlights they never did that, I can't even turn off my d2s without turning the truck off. Plus it never did that till today, if I get a replacement harness and/or bulbs via Logan or TRS I want to see if that's the issue.

 

You just clip one wire coming out of the headlight relay box under the dash. I did it to mine

 

Cut the wire. Problem solved.

 

Those aren't your issues, they wouldn't supply their own power out of no where. Now if they wouldn't come on then those could be culprits.

 

Just wondering why it would start doing it out of nowhere? I could understand if it did that the day I installed the new lights.

 

Here, test the running light possibility. Start the truck with the parking brake engaged one click (enough to illuminate the light on the dash). Then put your truck in gear and move. If it is indeed the driving lights, the parking brake will turn them off. As soon as you disengage the parking brake with the engine running, the headlights should come back on.

 

Lol that's exactly what it was. So what's next?
