Is there any way a post can be referenced without relying on a page # ?

In many threads, I see a link posted for a post, that when clicked, does not show up the intended post, but rather just the page referenced.

This appears to happen because the link contains the page number, and when previous posts get deleted, the intended referenced post might end up on a different page.

For example, my post here referenced a post in another thread. However, that link no longer works, because deletions caused the intended post link to move to another page.

    Original link: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/i-want-free-stuff.141819/page-142#post-10445821
    Now link: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/i-want-free-stuff.141819/page-140#post-10445821

See how the post number stays the same, but because the page changed from 142 to 140, the original link no longer works.

Is there a link/URL that can be used to reference the post number only, without requiring the page number?

    Thanks!

Let me see if I can fix that so it'll actually redirect you to the post if it doesn't exist on the page you landed on

In the interim, I found a way to redirect to a post without a page number:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/goto/post?id=10445821#post-10445821

Just have to use this URL format instead of relying on the post # link generated in the thread.

Still hacking up a permanent fix for this. Sounds like you're running into this a lot. Are all these links from a particular thread?

PS an even quicker way to link to a particular post would be https://www.tacomaworld.com/posts/10564832

Tried that shortened link, but get:

    "Tacoma World - Error
The requested page could not be found."

Fixed the example link I gave you. Are all those bad links you're running into from a particular thread?
